Yes. Estimates were made by people who know what they are talking about. Plenty of people were calling a bubble but people get greedy. And people get things wrong. Einstein was wrong too. So was hawking who changed his original theory.

Can we agree that they were both experts in the field though? And that we should probably listen to experts in a field as they are going to be better informed to make those estimates than those outside of it?

Absolutely, fully agree with you that people should listen to experts in the field, I was merely pointing out that they can be spectacularly wrong and everything they say should not be taken as gospel
