I dunno if they did say that actually. Johnson has but think the SNP called it a once in a generation opportunity or something. The danger was proposed at the time that a close vote could lead to multiple referendums.
I’m sure some brexit boys were saying that if they lost the vote by a close margin it would not kill the question.

Farage did indeed say that and quite frankly it was disgraceful. We may not like the results of some votes but normally we accept them without question...

All largely hypothetical, but if it was a close lose by leave it certainly wouldn’t have ended the movement to leave the Eu. Probably would have gained some traction if anything as people thought remain was going to be a whitewash.
Certainly wouldn’t have ceased criticism of remaining in the Eu and our relationship with it therefore you gotta expect remainers to continue to be critical of brexit and likely call for us to rejoin after a period of time.

I don't think there's any doubt that the question of Brexit would not have gone away if the referendum result were different. Especially given the French had promised to veto any request for rebate in the 21/27 budget. It would still be extremely high on the political agenda, Farage would probably still be in charge of UKIP, and god knows what our political arena would look like now. Probably hung Parliaments all over the place.

And that is perfectly fine. See how we get on, then see what state the EU is in, then put forward an argument to rejoin. I have no problem with this, as all the old Remainers like Heseltine, Blair, Major, etc will be out of the picture and the younger generation can make up their own mind. I voted to join a common market and I voted to leave a political union having experienced the before and after, now the younger generation will get to see both sides of the coin.....

Last post in this merry-go-round. Some things never change (if the cap fits, wear it...)

The EU already costs us £350 million a week. Enough to build a new NHS hospital every week. 'Enough to build' = equivalent to.

What do you want me to say?. I'm just acknowledging that the bus advertisement wasn't factual. The truth is that the money we save in not contributing to the EU, approximately £14bn pa, will go into the pot. Had we still been in the EU it probably would have been closer to £25bn pa but best not go there. There's no way of knowing what that £14bn would be spent on as that's not how our treasury works, but some of it would have been spent on replacing some of the benefits we previously received from the EU, such as CAP and development funding.

Since 2016 a lot more than £350m per week extra has been sent on our NHS. But that is down to years of austerity and nothing to do with Brexit.
