That harsh truth is that you don't know EU directives and how the UK has never enforced the legislation.

2004/38/EC allows nations to remove EU citizens after 3 months if they are not employed or have the resources to support themselves and their families so they're not a burden on social assistance systems.

The UK has never enforced the requirement for EU citizens to register for residence, it's never tracked EU citizens coming or going into the UK. Your gripe lies with the governments who've never used the tools at their disposal.

Stop it with the facts. Its not fair.

Currently 41% of port traffic is from the EU.

Literally overnight all of that traffic will have additional checks and barriers to entry which these crossings are not designed to deal with.

It’s a complete mess. Luckily we’ve got a great pro-business government at the helm to get it sorted.

I’ll just add a bit more to that top point.

There are 4 major sea ports on the U.K.; Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway and Liverpool. All these Ports have infrastructure (for Border Controls and SPS checks) in place. The transition will be hard for these.

Liverpool for example, currently handles around 2.5k consignments of RoW traffic in a given year, so naturally has the staffing structure in place. Come July 2021 they’ll be dealing 25k consignments. Plus any spill over from other ports.

on top of that, places like Portsmouth, Hull, Holyhead, East Midlands Airport, Eurotunnel in Kent, Dover and a host of other Ports of Entry are going to see a large amount of EU consignments landing at their door. These authorities have no experience of dealing with SPS checks, none whatsoever; and now have 6 months to fully staff up, get the port operator to find space and build facilities and prepare for something they’ve never done before

There’s a complete lack of qualified staff, no Veterinary Surgeons (because they all went back to their native EU homes) and a total lack of understanding on how Local Authorities and SPS check regime operate.

Im still raising issues with government, that I raised 3 years ago when planning for Brexit, that are still outstanding

Indeed, but people will still pay for luxury items whatever the price, for the more value priced items a small % increase is neither here nor there.
Well off people maybe, but what about the rest.
Like the well off won't mind getting 0.90€ and 1.10€ for their £ when they're allowed to travel freely again.

It's almost as if he has no notion of quality whatsoever, which could explain a few things. They'd be making corsets out of bin bags by the end of next year, lol

Ok, let’s go with your corset example. What is the selling price, say £15 up to £1500. If sold in a shop then the cost to the shop is £7.50 - £750. Now not all of the materials will come from the EU so say 50% of materials come from the EU and they go up by 10%, so the cost of materials for the item has risen by 5%, but the materials may be only 50% of the cost of manufacture, with Labour and overheads taking the other, plus a little profit for the manufacturer. So say on the £7.50 job the profit is £1.50, Labour, manufacture and overheads £3 and materials £3. The materials have gone up by 5% so it’s now £3.15. So if the manufacturer of the garment passes on the whole cost the item now costs £7.65 and the cost in the shop will be £15.30, of which the shopkeeper has gained 15p additional profit. So now on an item of £1500, the new cost is £1530...will this result in no sale ? I doubt it.....oh and throw the additional VAT on it....

And they all need to be addressed if the country is going to gear up to trade with the world. I expect in your case the government were assuming a deal would be done.....

ok, now add the increase in shipping costs, extra port charges for movements and demurrage, delays, border controls etc

In a nursing home? Just die already.
Starving child? Tough, you deserve it.
Fleeing a war-torn country? Drown, you freeloading scum.
Fish that might possibly end ip in a foreign net? WE WILL LiTERALLY START A WAR TO PREVENT THIS HAPPENING!!!
Exactly. As soon as fish cross an imaginary line in the sea then they belong to the UK. Pity the right wing buffoons don't see refugee children like that when they cross the same imaginary line in the sea.

Lol

yes Pete, they’re going to. They’re hoping it works out despite being told, by the staff at the border, it won’t.

And no, they weren’t expecting a deal. Search this thread, i posted on here years ago they were planning for a No Deal, and that was under May. The problem was, they can’t plan because incompetence is very high in this government
