No, it’s correct as I’ve said myself. It will only add a little to our GDP, but it’s a small step start....

The thing is Pete, it was pointed out numerous times, and quite nicely by LSE below, that distance, or proximity more accurately, matters a lot in terms of global trade. Countries tend to trade most with those closest to them, and this has endured even as technology has shrunk distances. So the trade gains from deals with Japan, Australia, Canada and even the US, are going to pale in comparison to that lost with the EU as a result of your government's behaviour. It's like throwing away £100 and then celebrating that you've found a fiver.

But you keep assuming that trade between the U.K. and EU will be lost. Will we stop buying wine or German and French cars, of course not. Trade will continue irrespective of an FTA or not. Barnier just needs to drop his outrageous demands and a deal will be done. The U.K. is asking for nothing more than has already been given to Canada.....

In a general sense, probably yes, but we are engaging in the first trade talk in history that will make trading harder than was previously the case. That seems unlikely to result in trade volumes rising, does it?

We are engaging in trade negotiations where one party (Eu) refuses to accept the Independence of the other party (U.K.) and where one party (Eu) wants to punish the other party (U.K.) for having the temerity of wanting to leave It’s political project. There is nothing to stop the EU and U.K. doing a free trade deal apart from the EU seeking to maintain control over the U.K. . They will not negotiate in good faith, want as many levers of control over us as possible, backed up by an ability to withdraw permissions to trade in financial services whenever they wish. Even now, what you hear from them is how to punish the U.K.. These are not the actions of a friend, nor of an ally.....

Hate to inform you, we are not Canada, we are not even close neighbours, which would have been pertinent fact to EU Canada deal...

For those still playing, 'good faith' and 'Art.184' are your new watch words for Brexiteer bingo.

It's not "punishment" to have worse terms than we used to have. That was the bargain you voted for. You just happened to believe those who lied to you and suggested we could have it all.
