given we’re looking at people losing their jobs possibly millions more unemployed imminent , loads of people not earning a penny at the Moment and all indications that a huge recession is around the corner not a great sign tor the future that we can’t fill this hind of job at the moment .

I think its very unlikely the job couldnt be filled, the reality is that they would rather employ people from abroad and pay them 2 an hour.

These frams would have had a flurry of applications due to Universal Credit requirements. However, many farms tend to be in rural areas difficult get to by public transport, very easy to justify not taking this kind of employment, if own transport is limited, have family responsibilities etc.

but they haven’t got a flurry of applications have they ? I mean there are reasons why but they haven’t so yet again, there are always reasons why British people don’t fill those roles and throughout our history the Irish , Caribbean, Asian & European labour force do . Apparently it’ll all be changing imminently though it seems so I thought this might be the start of it , apparently not .

There were propaganda reports from the BBC Sky et al, at beginning of the month, reporting there were 1000s of people applying for theses jobs. Of course if you actually start to look at the industry and it's various bodies that represent, its not the case at all.

But that isn't the case everywhere. Here in the south west the call went out for, from memory I think 60,000, and it was over subscribed with all vacancies filled in just over a week. And as I said 98% were British

They had a lot of applicants apparently, all of whom would presumably have been aware of the pay on offer. By the time it went through the recruitment funnel, around 80 were looking to be employed. Incidentally, £9.03 per hour is the average salary for a farm worker according to Indeed - https://www.indeed.co.uk/salaries/farm-worker-Salaries, with this backed up by data from various trade bodies - https://www.thegrocer.co.uk/brexit-...w-brits-prepared-to-pick-fruit/554452.article
