Never forget the mealy-mouthed words being uttered at the moment, and compare it to the true ethos of the Conservative party.

She's an utter ghoul and probably the only member of the cabinet who I wouldn't bat an eyelid if this virus knocked on her door. She doesn't give a damn about anyone else, so I wouldn't lose any sleep if it knocked her for six.

I see that the EU, once again, could not agree on the approach to guaranteeing debt. Reuters called it a typical EU fudge and they are of course right. Holland and Germany do not want common debt or ‘coronabonds’ while France is pushing furiously for them, my guess is they know they will need them after Italy and Spain. Italy are going apoplectic. I am so glad we’re now out of this dogs breakfast......

It's a bit surprising with all the under-employed people at the moment together with the Brexiter majority that the country still needs to fly in Romanians to pick fruit and vegetables. Bit embarrassing. Surely the Brexiters would have been first in the queue to form the land army?
Where's that Bruce?, as in what part of the country.

There was a call to arms in the South West for farm manual labour at the.beginning of March. I even thought about it myself as my own part time work has stopped.

Two weeks later there was an announcement on local TV news that all vacancies upto the end of June had been filled.

Not sure of the actual number involved but it was in the tens of thousands. I know the number of British who applied though because it was so high and I remember not being surprised at the figure as there is a fantastic attitude to work down here. That figure was 98%

Believe it was in Norfolk. The food guy on R4 this morning suggested that locals were generally not able to get to the farms for the 4.30 am start time, so were generally not suitable (presumably the Romanian folk will live on site).

Completely different attitude down here mate. Pay is crap and mostly seasonal not to mention weather affected. Many people have multiple jobs and take what they can get

British Jobs for British workers*

*Unless it means an early start then the Romanians can have them.
