I admit I am for free movement has ended and we will have now a controlled immigration system in place , but more importantly try to train UK youngsters into proper qualified trades ....it's the UKs fault we tend to send them to uni not every student is geared to exams non vocational training in a workplace needs expanding imo.....

It's a matter of demographics. The country doesn't give birth to enough people to maintain, let alone grow the population. Look at the census data. In 2001, you had a native population of around 54 million, but crucially, less than 10 million of those were of retirement age. By 2011, the native population had barely budged, but the retired population was now 10.37 million. By 2017, again, the native population had barely budged, yet the retired population had risen by 1.5 million. Without immigrants we would be royally screwed.

But Pete I for one still believe the referendum was swung by a right wing elite conning a great swathe of idiots to self-harm.

That's called populism isn't it.

lots of stuff has been said and I’m sure some accurate and some offensive but I can’t believe you’re not sensible enough to believe race/immigration/dislike of foreigners has been a huge part of the whole debate .

Every phone In I Listen to around 80/90% of leavers start off on different points but usually get to immigration . It’s a factor and yeah tempers have become raised in this thread , a lot of gibberish has been written , circular arguments had and several times the same race/immigration issues come to the fore . I’m not accusing race of driving you but it’s certainly a factor for a decent sized proportion. I’m not even saying that being concerned about immigration makes you a racist by the way but a lot of people these days , don’t seem to get the concern and why so many get so distressed about it and that does lead to heated discussion.

I remember watching Farage on Question Time a few years ago and literally every argument ended with immigration being the problem. He was laughed out the building.
Quite. Its madness. Like @peteblue saying the UK no longer paying its annual subs to the EU is a benefit of leaving even though every independent analysis shows the UK earns back more than it pays in.

It's like leaving your golf club to save the annual membership fee then rocking up the next day to ask for a deal on its rates for individual rounds cos you still want to play golf at your local club!

It's his shift in the soup kitchen tonight mate, he'll be back later.

If by "itony" you meant irony, then I don't get where that comes from. I really don't.

And buy now pay later is not a new thing. It's been going on for years. There are many people in this country who are in debt due to genuine hardship. But the majority in debt now are there because they want things now rather than being prepared to wait until they can afford it. Many different reasons for it I grant you. Wanting bigger houses, newer cars, better schools for their kids or even paying for private schools, peer pressure. The list goes on, but one thing all have in common is that they know they can't afford it but make a conscious decision to buy it anyway. It's been going in for years, well before Brexit, and has absolutely nothing to do with Brexit.

The problem is, people like you will pick up on any piece of bad news and blame it on Brexit. And any piece of good news is despite of Brexit.

As regards growing a pair and owning it, I'm pretty sure I did that in my previous post. What do you want me to do, blow my own brains out?

But once again you're evading the point I'm making. That is that you actually WANT Brexit to fail even though the likelihood is that even you yourself will be worse off. You would rather that happen than Brexit be a success. Just so you could say you were right.
Grammar Nazi their is a Itony in this aswell. lol

was it European youngsters stopping Brittish youngsters going in to proper qualified trades?

Well, I'm burying my mum tomorrow so Brexit can go and you know what itself.

Do you think they can just hand Liverpool the title tomorrow as well? Get all the bad stuff over and done with on one day.

Sorry to hear that, Blue.

God bless your mum.

And your suggestion about making tomorrow a bad news twofer is a splendid idea.

Bruce kids leave school in my day it was apprenticeships training on the job day release block week release etc only the really stars in academics got to universities.......
Now it almost the complete reverse hence massive skill shortages - they say the young kids won't do the back breaking Horticultural/ Agricultural work in my day I did and many others did ...
Try getting work on your house by a skilled tradesman you can trust nowadays it's hard to find them......
Hence that's why untill the system is fixed we will always need immigration- alls we are now going to do is set up a work visa stopping free movement as your skill is valued as it is in countries outside the EU e.g. Usa New Zealand Canada etc etc

I understand your view. But with respect I think you are wrong. I can only speak for myself, but I abhor both left and right wing extremists. I have no truck with political elites, who I regard as under intelligent no marks, and I’m no idiot. I don’t do self harm and am very aware of the future I leave for my kids and granddaughter. I made my choice, and I think it was the right one.....we will have to disagree.......
