The sad thing for them is that they can back away all they like, it is coming anyway thanks to the antics of their current leader.

It's all easy to predict if you come at the situation assuming Johnson is lying.

It will happen as soon as the EU offer the extension. The only reason it isn't happening right now is because the extension hasn't been formalised.

For Corbyn to refuse one would be electoral suicide in the long run - he has no choice. It's more likely for Johnson to not want one now than Corbyn.

This what's going to be the Tories downfall come the election campaign, just as it was with May. It's all very good when you're sitting in Downing St and the BBC, Times, Mail and Telegraph are blowing smoke up Tory arse or warehouse full selected Tory members pretending to be Joe public (pun intended). However, when you actually have to go out on the road it's a totally kettle of fish. And just as May found out, no one really bothers with PMQ's or select committees, but televised debate in front of millions, Corbyn will turn the screw on him as the other oppositions leader will, the Tories sure as hell won't get a majority.
Hopefully as @davek and I have discussed, the Labour Party move the message away from solely Brexit and just to the fact that Boris, despite all of his bombast, still hasn't delivered it and, as he has demonstrated with Brexit, will lie to anyone no matter what position they are in.

'if he can lie to the queen, why wouldn't he lie to you?'

'if he can lie to his wife, why won't he lie to you?'

'if he will lie about how many kids he has, why won't he lie to you?'

Hmmm.

If the decision is due on Friday, but may lapse until Monday, it virtually eradicates the chance of No Deal even further, because there is sweet FA chance of EU MS panicking their supply chains four working days out.

Where does ‘England’ end? I can tell you that the North East of England has very little in common with the Home Counties and a lot more in common with Cornwall, South Wales and Scotland.

You can break that down to where does Scotland end? Where does the North East end? Where does Cornwall end?

At the end of the day, they are all parcels of land with ancient borders and a common name; who actually lives in which bit and how they view others in the same bit of random land isnt really dependent on anything.

Where the Jocks pish over the border and hope some of it trickles down to @edge 's pad.

Thing is the narrative on getting Brexit done has been won hands down by the Tories. To a man the Leave vote think Johnson has done his all to meet the 31st October deadline only to be cheated and frustrated by the Remain establishment.

They dont care hes lied to parliament etc. That's all fair game.

This is where Labour's message is so weak as a consequence of Corbyn's failings as a leader and the poor structure he has around him. You're right - Johnson's lies should skewer him but he's getting off Scot free at the moment

I'm not a flag waving unionist at all but I'd be upset if NI and Scotland left the UK. It is very myopic if people think we will be better off splintering off into different parts.

The four countries together have done great things to make this one political entity what it is today. It be weird to think in future that a Scottish invention or achievement would have no or limited sense of pride this side of the border when we all share this fairly small Island together.
