Nails it. Baffles me how people who rejected May's deal can support the one Johnson has thrown together at the last minute.

Their reasoning being they are in leave constituencies... Yes, but that doesn't mean you vote for a terrible tory enabling tory, am absolutely furious with them

My local MP is being disgustingly abused by people around here as we live in a leaves area yet he voted against mays deal ... he will also vote against this proposed deal too. His explanation was that you can’t just ignore the remain voters and have to be sure any deal proposed is the right deal for all. He is not standing in the next election and I for one wish him a happy retirement.

The whole point of an mp is to weigh things up and vote for what they believe is the best thing for their constituents, otherwise we may as well have a referendum on everything

If any Labour MP votes for this they are an idiot. All this deal ensures is that the Tories will be in power forever in what is left of the UK.

I'm starting to think that because the Tories have only been in government with a working majority for what 2 years out of the last 22, they have done this on purpose. Without NI and Scotland, to win a majority you would need 287 seats meaning the Tories would have won the last 3 elections outright.

It's not a good deal, but a good deal out the EU is impossible, they want us to stay.

They've made this deal, to save face, because both sides know the chances of it passing through parliament are the slimmest or slim to nil.

I’ve mentioned this before. What you say is true, but............the referendum was the ONLY time an MP really knew what their constituents thought about any particular subject. If he/she continually votes contrary to their constituents wishes (as my MP has done) is that democracy in action? The next GE will see some very interesting results if Brexit isn’t resolved by then.

Lets all swim in the [Poor language removed] and piss then.....bottom of the barrel and giving the scummy tories more years to inflict their austerity policies on me and you...a leopard doesnt change its spots.

And therein is the democracy in action. Voters will have the chance to have their say on how their MP has represented them in the next GE.

The flaw in this system is that political tribalism trumps listening to or engaging with candidates in any meaningful way among many of the electorate.

johnson's hero Churchill...."the best argument against democracy is a 5 minute chat with the average voter"

No it isn't. There was a constant attempt at a Balance of Power in Europe prior to WW1. Germany only went for global domination under totalitarianism/fascism with Wilhelm and Hitler respectively.

The same thing happened in Italy with Mussolini and his attempts at repeating the Roman empire.

The German country, historically, has simply been the biggest nation state in Europe (or collection of affilliated states in the days of Prussia etc.), located centrally in the continent and therefore always important, both politically and economically.

You have exposed yourself as an irrational xenophobe with that reply, which is a shame.
Which part is a shame
The fact that he is an irrational xenophobe ,
Or the fact that he has exposed himself as one
