I'm sort of resigned to this passing and then the tories getting a decent -ish majority in a general election, just have to put up with it for 5 years...hopefully labour will elect a decent leader and kick them out then

Nearly as bad has having to accept liverpool winning the league...oh well

:(

Looks like I picked the wrong year to stop sniffing glue.

Unlike Johnson with his rebels, where all that happened was his MPs asked for more to be done, I can see the reasoning behind sacking any Labour MP who votes with the Tories for the deal, precisely for this reason - it's effectively giving the Tories a free election win.

Sure, you can hate Corbyn, but you shouldn't pro-actively and blatantly be helping the Tories into government as the alternative. The Tory rebels didn't help Corbyn into government - indeed, they were quite explicit that they'd never do that.

Juncker:

We don't need an extension because we have a deal.

Q: But what happens if Parliament doesn't approve a deal?

I don't control British Parliament.

We will get an extension deffo, but with a couple of caveats in, we either hold a GE or a second referendum.

At the end of the day you can understand why the EU are getting pissed off with it all now, they're thinking, what difference is a 3 month extension going to make if we couldn't find a solution in over 3 years.

she's mad as a tree, wont reflect the other labour rebels

Not sure about that - she isn’t a remainer and her Brexit credentials are clear. She is (was) also close to Johnson as well.

Her criticism of this is likely to be effective and not something the Tories are likely to be able to just bat off.

Hopefully, it looks increasingly likely that this could pass on labour votes...which is awful

The problem is nearly all the Lab MP's who are lining up to back the deal are retiring or quitting before the next election so the threat of withdrawing the whip holds no weight. The one it might sway to stop voting for it is Lisa Nandy as shes young and pro Corbyn so doesnt want to the sack. The rest I'll be happy to see the back off anyway (John Mann the tory, Kelvin Hopkins the sex pest, Kate Hoey the DUP'er etc) bu the damage will already be done

That's revisionism Pete. If the leaders of the Brexit movement; Farage, BoJo and Gove all said no deal was out of the question and that we would get a good deal (with nothing being said about a border down the Irish Sea), then that is what the majority based their decision on. You and others may take that to include no deal but you can't say that is the same for everyone. The so called 'surrender' act was a sensible law due to not having a sensible government. The EU would have just gone ta-ra, see you to the UK to leave on a no deal before it would do anything to damage the integrity of the single market.

People need the chance to confirm this via a second referendum with the facts and that will be true democracy. They may still go your way or they may not, but least it will be done with full knowledge of the situation.

And what if we still vote to leave. Please don’t tell me that the ultra Remainers either in here or in Parliament will then just accept it. No it will be attacked all over again and every legal and political trick will be rolled out. Until we can be seen to follow through on a vote then voting is discredited......

No, that is not what was said.

We ignore Europe and what has repeatedly happened over the past 400 years is that some fool - Hitler, Wilhelm II, Bismarck, Napoleon, Louis XIV being the main culprits - tried to take it over.

Men (and lately women) from here go there, stop them at vast cost, we spend the next generation keeping the peace until the next generation after that start to vote Tory again, we walk away, the armed forces get cut and the cycle begins anew.

So unless the U.K. looks after Europe war will probably break out somewhere on the continent. I’m pleased at least that you accept what this country has already done for Europe on a number of occasions and is currently doing as part of NATO in Estonia.....
