Not with Ukip rating highly in the polls that's what forced Cameron's hand -also the EU did not hep him with his bit of paper he waved on zilch changes when he came back from the EU......

This is Cameron's tragedy... He was never going to lose his majority to UKIP. Never.

All he did was ensure the country did nothing important for three years, that everybody in the country hated each other and that his successor had to rely on the DUP.

You didn't even read what I posted.....BEFORE Cameron promised a referendum the EU was right at the bottom of voter's concerns, it was then that the leave campaign, promoted by the politicians came to the fore. Don't fecking lecture me on the vote, I acknowledge it was a vote to leave by a very small margin. Christ on a bike !!!!!

he was fighting off UKIP, Farage was raising the stakes against the EU and people were buying into it. He tried call his bluff and failed miserably.

Also he had won the scottish referendum and thought it was in the bag as the polls showed Remain in a strong lead.....

He also won the referendum on electoral reform. A referendum where people realised they had no understanding of the issues and either stayed at home or voted for the status quo.

Halcyon days.

@Joey66 have you read it yet?
No been injecting insulin...and had a shower...
just seen it without the legal text which is to follow -
Mr Johnson's proposals for a new Brexit deal hinged on getting rid of the controversial backstop - the solution negotiated between Theresa May and the EU to solve issues around the Irish border after the UK leaves.

By removing it, he hoped to secure the support of Brexiteers in his own party and the DUP - which could hold the key to getting the numbers for a successful vote in the Commons.

The EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, said the new deal rests on four main elements:

  • That Northern Ireland will remain aligned to a limited set of EU rules, notably related to goods
  • That Northern Ireland will remain in the UK's customs territory, but will "remain an entry point" into the EU's single market
  • That there is an agreement to maintain the integrity of the single market and satisfy the UK's legitimate wishes over VAT
  • That Northern Ireland representatives will be able to decide whether to continue applying union rules in Northern Ireland or not every four years

I've not read it because it will never pass, I'll wait for Andrew Neil to inform me on BBC2 now.

Hope Boris has not agreed to keep our tariffs and duties inline with the EU, this is how we are going become the most prosperous country in Europe, by undercutting them and being a very desirable place to set up shop.
