I've been against Ref II on principle. I'm going to stick to that but I'd understand if others wanted any deal ratified with another vote.

Ideally for me we'd have a Labour Govnt that negotiated a Brexit deal that protected the people of NI, the rights of workers, consumers and the environment.

I know that isn;t going to happen, but that would suit me.

I will tell you why I favour a Referendum first, Dave.

Johnson’s polling figures show him with the Tories between 35/40% of voting intentions.

That would get him a majority in a new parliament and license to do what he wants vis a vis No Deal.

But opinion polls....plus anecdotal evidence I am gleening myself as I go about my life....are showing that light bulbs are switching on all over the country and there is a clear majority for Remain.

No brainer for me.....get that Referendum done first.

wonder what the chances are of Johnson getting labour to vote for his deal on condition that he calls a GE if it passes.
He'll think he can win because he's delivered brexit, they'll think they can win because the tories will be split over loyalty to the DUP.
mad times continue.
Could be waaay off here tho.
Labour are more exercised by rights of workers and the environment I'd imagine. If the WA has been spiced up to allow the NI only backstop to be included, Labour would refuse to support that, I;d imagine.

Oh yeah, I think that's a no brainer. But the LP front bench have a HUGE problem with ignoring the first referendum completely and going for another without consent.

It would also mean that the last 2 years have been a complete waste of everybody's time.

And that Boris 'the backstop must be ditched' Johnson finally accepts that it can't be despite all his threats and bluster over the last few months.

I still can't believe that he has agreed to it so won't believe it until I see it. And if he has, he would still have to sell it to the DUP who will reject it. This is far from over.

The DUP are irrelevant now.

The ERG will back whatever he tells them to and he will be appealing to Labour and Independents.

The SNP won’t go for it as it discriminates against Scotland....the Lib Dems won’t because they want Brexit stopped altogether.

This will be down to the Labour Party supporting it or enough Labour rebels doing so.

yup, I think that enough people are sick of all this messing about, no one wants a hard Brexit, no one wants another delay to A50. Now that the DUP are out of the way, he should be able to find a majority. If there was ever anyone to discard loyalty in the name of success, it's Johnson.

I don’t think so, Dave.

The first referendum is entitled to be ignored as no one can possibly say it was voted in by owt more than ignorance and xenophobia.

Now, whilst the racists and xenophobes wonchange their minds, ignorance is no longer an issue because the one tangibke benefit of the Brexit fiasco is that it has made people stop and take notice of our politics in a way they have not before.

The cart was put before the horse in 2016.

The new Referendum will be held in a much more knowledge driven era, hence my total support for binning that first one and conducting one based on the reality of what Brexit would look like.

Except everyone who wants a 2nd referendum, because they know it will very likely reverse the result of the first one. And that's an awful lot of people.

Agreed on austerity, but not bankrupting the country with Macdonnell .... theri stance on Brexit has been awful to flip flopping......
Ok how will JM "bankrupt the country?" ( or for that matter any other member of the shadow cabinet you care to mention). I thought Labour's stance on brexit was fairly simple to understand......please explain "flip flopping" . Thanks.

we’re all ears if you’d like to explain it.....

I activated the link and saw that the heading referred to the EU Commission. If you find something that refers to the EU Parliament then I will read it.
Aside from the fact that you were referencing the EU parliament's relationship with the EU Commission, hence the reason I shared the previous link, literally 20 seconds of research and you could've found this:

Didn't you used to be some sort of civil servant or government advisor? o_O

oh yea, of course, I just think he might be able to find a majority from Tory and Labour and not have to rely on the ERG or DUP. Farages crowd might even be happy enough throwing the DUP under the bus too.
