Think that's it yes. Can't see what else it could be. Regulatory & customs checks in the Irish sea. NI leaves the Customs Union but acts as part of it for administration purposes.
Interesting if it is forming the basis of this "deal", as the DUP stated it was a 'blood red line' of theirs that there could be no suggestion of regulatory divergence between NI and the rest of the UK.

As a rider to that: I notice BoJo's paper the Telegraph are publishing a story tomorrow that runs...

"Northern Ireland is a burden on the rest of the UK. We can't let it get in the way of Brexit"

Going to be a bit of a surprise to them by tomorrow morning

...if Boris Johnson can negotiate a deal, then it’s hard to see anything but a Tory majority at the next GE. He’ll be seen as a hero by many. 5 more years!!
Totaling ignoring the Brexit Party... Which after all this Brexit is all about the Nigel Farage and the support he takes away from Conservative Party.
The Conservative government then have address the real issues and mess they have made of NHS Education, Local Authoritys etc.

Project fear mk3. Once consumers around Europe know the car is built in the UK, they'll not only pay the 10% extra but another 50% on top just for the prestige of owning a Japanese car made in Britain. Free from the shackles of the EU within a couple months that plant would have expanded and taken on 1.25 million more workers. This will in turn help crush the rebellious Scots and Irish and reclaim India on the way to creating an empire even larger than the one we had previously. These nations will then be forced to pay all the taxes that would be imposed on UK citizens. #the benefits of a no deal Brexit and you can't prove otherwise. :hayee:

Straws in the wind on this 'deal', but it looks from the bits and pieces coming out that the DUP are going to be looking at accepting a form of words that merely claims they are now still part of the UK customs union but will, in fact, have regulatory alignment with the EU - and that is a 'blood red line' they swore never to step over. And Julian Smith the Sec of State for NI is handing out interviews talking down the extent of consent / veto power NI will have on any deal.

The ERG have now gone into their May-era position of stating that they'd back a deal ONLY IF the DUP are ok with it....oh, and it's now being reported that even with a possible deal to be negotiated, an extension will be forced on Johnson.

I bet those Barclay / Barnier talks go nowhere this morning.

Labour and the Remainers will now do everything they can to scupper any deal......

We'll see, DUP and ERG are unusually hiding away, no doubt frantic discussion with Conservative Government. Job done by the remain coalition, Boris Johnson is now boxed in being forced to seek a deal. Also a distinct change in rhetoric from the Government, gone has antagonistic tones and tweets, that line attack looked flaccid.

The ‘Remain coalition’ do not want a deal. They do not want a GE. They will play games in Parliament to try to force another referendum......
