Not really, many of these EU trade deals are actually with quite small economies. The bigger ones such as Japan, Canada will get rolled over and new free trade deals with the likes of the USA, Australia, NZ, Mercosur et al will follow. We are not as big as the USA, EU, China or Japan, but these apart, the U.K. economy is bigger than every other country in the world, so I’m not quite sure why you think we will be unable to get decent deals....

pete we are led by a man who went to Shoreditch for "technology lessons"

we will be getting no decent deals with him in charge

And heres me thinking you were the king of negotiations........

No mate, but I have been right about the shambolic way we negotiated early on and then allowed parliament and the Remainers to effectively remove any chance of a sensible deal. So here we are facing No Deal. Our headless chickens at Westminster will be crapping themselves, but Boris is playing a really bad hand of cards as well as anyone could........

remove any chance of a sensible deal.

I clearly remember asking you, pretty soon after the result, how no freedom of movement and the Irish border staying open and unmanned could be squared. Because until that is settled, there was never ever any "sensible" deal available.

You didnt answer me then, 3 years later you still cant answer me, no one can.

Thats just one stunt that those at the top of the Leave campaign have managed to keep from those that still bang on about empires and surrender.

The stronger they are, the more wreckless they are. They'll be delighted by the anti-German tone. It plays into the white van man demographic, or so they think.

On the flip side, I agree, though, with this analysis from Paul Mason on Johnson going for no brexit ..

hahahaha.....I really hope that this is just some form of joke... does this Pillock not understand that millions of small business owners and one man bands have absolutely no contact with the EU and never will. How will it affect the guys who do my garden, or the lads who clean the windows, or my wife’s shop that has zero contact either through supplies or sales to the EU. The EU is a small part of our economy, and does not affect 90% of our businesses and people. It will not just disappear anyway, because on the day we leave we become the EU’s single biggest trading partner.....talk about project fear......

It's funny but it's simultaneously horrifying.

We've let people like this win the argument. We have elected politicians who are supposed to be acting in the best interests of the country ignoring all reason, logic and common sense because they're terrified of xenophobes and right wing nationalists.

I'm speechless. The rampant xenophobia that fuelled the Leave vote laid bare for all to see.

This is what it's all been about.

I know. It dawned on me a while ago. Folk have been played like a fiddle by a small group of people from the classic populist textbook.

They cant see it, and if they could, they wouldnt admit it anyrate.

I mean, if you ask yourself "Why do Farage, Banks, Cummings, et al, really want to leave the EU?" the real reasons for us legging it with a No Deal become crystal clear.
