Which is the thing - May could have reacted to the three defeats on MV and passed a customs union within a week; she preferred instead to placate the ERG for some reason.

The reason being she rather liked being Prime Minister and really rather wouldn't like to see Corbyn or Johnson deliver the role in her place.

He'll get the Brexit party about 17% of the vote next election. That'll be enough to blow Tory bridges up.
he will blow a lot of Labour bridges up as well , Corbyn isn't an easy sell don't know how many times I have had a row with people over this when they say they will not vote Labour if he is in charge, then when you ask who they will vote for them it's nearly always the brexit party , although.I have shockingly been told the Tories twice.
for me stopping Johnson trumps brexit all day but I don't think a majority think that way in the leave camp, so I don't think it's just the Tories who have something to fear from them, look at the EUROPEAN elections the can gather votes.

There is seriously a massive anti Corbyn feeling across the country for some reason... maybe I’m just blinded and can’t see what others are seeing or maybe the Tory controlled media have done a great job ... I don’t know

The Brexit party will damage the LP, of course. There's about 60 seats or so that could see Labour toppled (for the Tories) that way if a pact isn't done. But up and down the country the greater threat is to the Tories if Farage connects with the electorate again. Labour's bigger danger are the LibDems in many cases.

A big showing for Brexit wont give them too many seats, though. So if they have a good election the likelihood is that those parties committed to a 2nd referendum / revoke will form the majority in parliament. It's why Johnson needs to have this deal he proposed yesterday rejected - so he can go on flirting with Brexit party supporters. He'd panic if this deal went through, as it was designed NOT to.

There was in 2107...result: 40% of the electorate voted Labour.

It’s different this time dave I feel. Brexit has turned normal rational people into ranting lunatics unwilling to consider any middle ground ... I include both remain and leave voters in this

It's different for all political parties this time. Success for Labour is another hung parliament. They'll get that. Who forms the government after that is up in the air.

but don't accept the pretence that the Island of Ireland is without divergence when it comes to many different things, including the divergence of law between two different states.

Thank god you're drawing a line in the sand. For too many years, people like me have travelled to Northern Ireland, trying to buy Union Jack flags with euro notes and I say enough! I declare that the Republic and Northern Ireland have two sets of laws and challenge any man who says otherwise to a duel

Looks like either way Eire has a hard decision on its hands , either a deal like Johnson has offered or no deal Brexit which means they will.have to put an border up to keep within EU free market .
Not good either way they go.
If this is the choice left to Ireland then brexiteers and the conservatives should be thoroughly ashamed at what they have done to people

Haha, by that you obviously mean i don't share the same distorted lens as yourself.

So what is your interpretation of events in this regard?

Simple. In response to this quote....

”The EU are not going to give some tinpot regional parliament the power to dictate its policy and direction.”

I posted an old report of the Belgian Wallonia Region effectively having a power of veto over a trade agreement.....

Ha, good point, i didn't notice @Khalekan tagged in :o

Still, Wallonia aren't dictating, they're using rights afforded to member states to ensure the eu respect their National, and even regional interests.
