You know Mark, half of me is thinking that this idea should not be dismissed out of hand.
The Good Friday Agreement loosened British control in Ulster (6 of 9)
Regulatory Alignment between North and South, independent of England loosens it further.
Bank it now and let demographics and the Scots finish the job
What say you, @Armaghtoffee @Charlie Sweet @Emlynsqueakyvoice at al.
Yeah, and there's going to be £350M pw for the NHS.

News breaking tonight that the DUP have been told by Downing St that if Stormont still isn't sitting when this arrangement comes up for approval in 2024 there would be a referendum in NI to decide. Needless to say they are not happy about that as they know that the NI populace is majority pro-remain, so it wouldn't be surprising if they have changed their minds by tomorrow. Absolute farce.I get the way you are thinking, and I am immensely attracted to the lovely Arlene accepting Gerry Adams' demand for special status for the north. She is truly dancing to the Republican tune, but, alas, this so called proposal from Johnson dies in the water for any number of reasons;- you can't give the DUP a veto after x number of years. Firstly because Stormont may never sit again. Also, giving Arlene the veto means that there is a time limit on the proposal. In addition, if Johnson goes to Brussels and says "there you are lads, take it or leave it", how is that negotiating? Regarding the 6 of 9, that area of Ulster has been increasingly looking to Dublin rather than London ever since the GFA, and all of this Brexit palaver, which once again the DUP have shown themselves to be on the wrong side of, has loosened what grip the DUP had over their supporters. Tessie May was prepared to throw Foster's lot under the bus, and Johnson will do the same if it suits. I honestly think the DUP are on their way out. Sorry about the length of my response!
Correct. Doubt it as NI would have left the EU.No danger of it happening anyway.
The EU are not going to give some tinpot regional parliament the power to dictate its policy and direction.
On another note.....will 6 of 9 get to keep its three MEPs if this “deal” was passed?

He's the ultimate golf club bore.It reminded me of those divs on Red Men TV who film themselves watching matches and make what they presumably think are witty comments as they do so.
He'll get the Brexit party about 17% of the vote next election. That'll be enough to blow Tory bridges up.I don't agree with Farage on pretty much anything, but he's tremendously, annoyingly effective. The perfect protest vote leader.
