He used a term involving wife beating what he described as:

“It is an old saying at the Bar which simply relates to a cross-examination technique of asking a question that presumes the premise - and it’s the what in which we were taught."

In defence of Cox, I expect anyone that's studied law has been taught that technique using precisely those terms.

I'm not sure people really understand that though. They will see a PM who promised them something and didn't deliver. The BXP are already sharpening the knives. His best option will be to resign and have someone else do the dirty deed. I can definitely see him allowing someone else to take charge and the old November stab in the back myth to begin to be propagated.

Oh I think they do, they know 'remainers' have stopped him doing it - the problem is there will be a large amount of moderate 'brexiteers' who would have been dumbfounded by his recklessness at wanting to crash out at any cost.

You'd think he'd resign no later than the 31st, but as said earlier, 'strongman' politics is unpredictable - who knows where his ego will take him. Just like the Republicans with Trump, the Conservatives will ultimately be answerable as to why such a buffoon ever became PM.

Of course, but it isn't going to fly nowadays, rightly or wrongly. it was just good to see his wings clipped.
It's a classic example of a loaded question and one which, I was taught, much I expect in the same way that Cox was taught. It's perhaps not the wisest of points to make considering the Domestic Violence bill was one which was not heard as a result of the Prorogation, but of all the things to dislike about Cox and his allocution, this seems a touch oversensitive.

Exactly. Let the people decide who they want to represent them, now that they fully understand the way their MP thinks. Make manifestos legal documents, and get a Government that does what they told people they would do.....we need an election.....
Ah..... so you are now advocating putting it to the people now that they ‘fully understand’ things.

That posh thug and his Tory government can wallow in their own excrement for a few weeks longer.

We're getting May's deal repackaged to look like something else and leave on Oct 31.

I just can't see how that will happen. The ERG/right wing Tory backbenchers will be apoplectic if he comes back with a backstop (Farage would call it for what it is, even if the Tories try to pretend otherwise) and the atmosphere is so toxic that Labour et al won't vote for anything Johnson brings back, especially with no second referendum.

The chance of a deal passing before 31 October is... what, 1% likely?

I'm sure the attorney general will duly oblige and try to opine that it is nothing like May's deal and fundamentally different.

And you can be certain that those leavers who have never read a single word of any WA will be absolutely certain that it is completely different and swallow all of the kool aid.

This is why it’s vital for Johnson to somehow keep no deal on the table. So he can put May’s WA to them at the 11th hour, forcing parliament to vote it through. It’s got closer each time, and I think it would pass under those circumstances. That’s Johnson’s plan A, B and C.

Love him or hate him ..... Corbyn has played Johnson like a fiddle. The fact Johnson and the attorney general are practically begging Corbyn to call for a no confidence vote or a general election just shows they have no other strategy to offer. If I was Corbyn I’d sleep peacefully tonight with a grin like a Cheshire Cat across my grid.
