Hammond for PM!
Yes but now the Tories have game theory extrodinaire Dominic Cummings!
No Dominic Cummings is a genius level intellect who nobody could possibly out manoeuvre. He's the Picasso of political strategy; a maverick with incredible versatility*Which involves Johnson continuously saying one thing and doing another... Tory party is openly with war itself, Hammond was very strong with his words. He is fighting against entrist and unelected policy makers, his fighting for his country and the soul of his party, pragmatism is gone.
...ahh, sorry. Underlines my ignorance of NI politics right there.
Is there any chance of Sinn Fein now taking up their seats at Westminster just to protect the GFA?
just been reading this bill came across this bit.
‘If the European Council proposes an extension to a different date then the Prime Minister must accept that extension within two days, unless the House of Commons rejects it.
not an expert on it but surely that would be leaving it open to the bill being refused royal consent ,as you cannot have an outside body telling the government of the UK what to do as a precedent making this bill open to refusal at that stage ?
might be reading it wrong but that looks like that at first glance.
SF could and should take up their seats in parliament on a short term basis. I know they have their critics in the Nationalist community who'd see it as a sell out, but the relative peace in that part of Ireland needs protecting.I would doubt it.
However, the leader of Sinn Fein in NI, Ms Michelle O’Neill, is facing an unprecedented and most unexpected challenge to her leadership from a very influential and indeed effective party colleague and there is to be a vote in November.
I am taking this as evidence of dissent and disquiet within the SF rank and file, quite possibly connected to the abstentionist policy which taken in conjunction with the lack of a government in NI has reduced the party to spectators on the sideline as the Brexit crisis deepens.
Sinn Fein are in a real dilemma over No Deal Brexit......on the one hand that scenario is heaven sent for them as the behaviour of the Tories and their cavalier attitude to the GFA genuinely underscores everything SF have ever said about Perfidious Albion.
On the other hand the disruption and misery about to be heeped on their communities living along the British imposed border in Ireland might not be forgotten at election time if people were to think such misery might have been avoided if their elected representatives had actively engaged in voting to stop it.

i know what you saying mate , but they cant be seen to set precedents not just for this bill but for the future of a outside body telling the government what to do, ie Johnson asks for say a jan date, they say no it's we say its june he would have to accept it after being instructed by parliament to ask for jan , i know it's only a small thing on the face of it but it just doesn't look right for some reason to me , might be me getting it completely wrong, far clever minds than mine will be all over it i suppose. Is this not the whole point of “royal consent” though?
It is all a charade and she has to do what the government or parliament tells her to do.
Leastways that is what royal apologists were telling us last week when we were enquiring about her telling Johnson to do one when he sought her “consent” to close her parliament down.

...this cabal today will refuse to accept any legislation forced on it by parliament, then ignore any attempt to stop a GE by running a coach and horses through the Fixed Term Parliament Act on a required 2/3rds majority to hold a new GE.There was quite a precedent set last week with the prorougation, edge.
All bets are off now with regards our “unwritten constitution”......a concept which is now totally exposed as not being worth the paper it is not written on.
If and when this Brexit saga ever ends, a move towards a proper, written constitution with a Bill of Rights at the heart of it must be very high up the to do list.

It's out of control. Chaos. The result of this utter 'kin clown taking the advice of a weedy nobhead like Cummings who takes his strategy from war games.
It'd be comical if it weren't all so serious. A 'kin nerd and a clown driving the country over a cliff.
No. It's to stop Boris using it as a wildcard to say that he doesn't agree with that date. It forces him to sit and negotiate.i know what you saying mate , but they cant be seen to set precedents not just for this bill but for the future of a outside body telling the government what to do, ie Johnson asks for say a jan date, they say no it's we say its june he would have to accept it after being instructed by parliament to ask for jan , i know it's only a small thing on the face of it but it just doesn't look right for some reason to me , might be me getting it completely wrong, far clever minds than mine will be all over it i suppose.
she has refused consent before about the iraq war being one, its all done on the advice of her ministers before royal assent is given .
what a load of bollocks in this day and age![]()
