Well I suppose it depends what side of the fence you were on.
In 1969 I spent six weeks living in Paris, and when folk heard I was British they were all over me. It was cool Britannia before the phrase was invented.
We've still got some clout. OK it's slightly different now!

Britain is still regarded fondly in many parts of the world, but sadly Brexit isn't enhancing that reputation.

The junta really is running scared.

It looks like their “cunning plan” to head off this week’s Parliamentary assault on the madness by proroguation is not filling them with much confidence.

So they first resorted to threatening their own MPs with all sorts if they do what Johnson did and vote against the leader.

Not too many Tory rebels seem overly worried by that.

(as if a government with a majority of one is going to take the whip off circa twenty of their own people :( )

So now they are floating the idea of a General Election to be announced before the MPs take control of the House.

What will they do next, if Labour don’t let him have an Election?

(credit where it’s due.....Cameron has stitched them up good with the Fixed Term Parliament Act lol )

And Mr. Dominic Cummings is looking more like Baldric as each day goes by.

My head is hurting here. The fixed term act means the PM cant call a snap election? Because 5 Live keep saying he might. I thought 2/3rds of the HOC needed to agree to one.

What did May do? Cant recall a vote in Parliament then.

He can call for an Election all right.....but 66% of M.Ps have to vote in favour of it.

Otherwise he is screwed.

So unless Corbyn throws the Labour Party behind any such call, there won’t be an Election.

Presumably May got the numbers when she called for the Election....and remember it was easier for her.....she had a majority of twenty from memory.

Getting like Game of Thrones aint it? (Not that I ever watched it mind!)

Problem is Corbyn will back it. Let's hope his MPs don't vote for it. Blair is right Brexit needs to be resolved before a GE takes place.

Stephen Kinnock on radio 4 just now said its the duty of her Majesty's loyal opposition to support a no confidence vote and go to a General Election.

Depends if Corbyn sticks to protocol or stick 2 fingers up to it.

He wanted a GE, this might be his chance

Election before or after the 31st October: watch how much the public finds Johnson unpalatable, despite all nthe BS in the media that he'll be a great campaigner and boost fir the Tories.

The Tories are about to learn a harsh lesson in the next 6-to-8 weeks.

They are detested, and the cabal of crazies in that Cabinet are destested even more than the rest of the Tory Party.

It is his chance no doubt to get what he wanted. But the remain side will be divided, without the whole of Scotland turning red it won't work, the Tories will just get the same sort of majority that they had back in 2015.

Thought he was clear in his speech today, he would only go for an election if no deal was gone and all options are exhausted ... The Media are holding him to what he said in the past about election as i expect them too...

Anyway, Johnson would have called an election already if he were confident, Tories are cold and calculated when it comes to power, going for an election is Johnson at roulette table.

General Election Im perfectly happy for one. As Brexit will have to find space amongst all what else is wrong with the UK...

Scotland doesn't need to go red; we are set for a minority government and the SNP / LDs / Greens / Plaid will know they have to get into some sort of electoral pact with Labour to face down a Tory/Farage pact.

A GE will defo see the 'progressive' parties with well over 325 seats.
