I think he wants a deal, and is putting us in the best possible position to get a good deal, if it turns out the EU won't budge then so be it, we leave with no deal and it won't be anywhere near as bad as it has been made out for years in the remainer media.

How would you sort the Irish border issue out in the event of No Deal?

What was your point? both referendums were different.
EU here's a treaty.
RoI, we're constitutionally obliged to put this to the people.
RoI, the people said no, there arent enough guarantees of neutrality or protection of national taxation levels.
EU. OK, what if we give these guarantees.
RoI. we'd have to put it to the people again.
RoI, The people said yes.

This seems like a reasonable process to me.
It's worth noting that the UK have no laws about voting on stuff like this so most politicians took the easy option and avoided voting on treaties.
It also shows how lazy and poorly thought through the Brexit referendum was.

Seems a sensible way of doing it. Are the referendums based on a simple majority or do you need to achieve a set percentage to agree. In any event, at least they are getting the buy in of the majority of their people to decisions being made regarding EU membership.

However I'm not altogether sure this type of thing would have worked with the UK. If we put these big decisions to the people all the time I doubt the EU would ever get any business done.lol

To be honest, that is far from the worst suggestion I have seen. Could extend that to the whole flaming mess.
