I have a question about immigration. Does our being in the EU influence our immigration policy toward non-EU nationals in any way? Or are we 100% free to do what we want there whether we are in or out?

Oh and it's good to see Pete's had a good night down the pub tonight.

I think we are free either way, the problem being that non EU people have to jump through a myriad of hoops ( my daughter is in the process of trying to get her American fiancé a suitable visa) while anyone from the EU can just move in. This of course makes companies favour EU nationals because it’s less hassle.....once we are out the it becomes a level playing field....

And thanks, as I did have a good time down at the pub......

Bruce, and all the other Remainer posters, here’s a question for you. Would you accept a deal that effectively manages our complete exit from the EU.?.....or do you just want to reverse the result ?.......in your own time......

The referendum was flawed. I honestly believe that. Remaining in the EU is the best option for the UK.

Pete you know how this plays out:
  • I say that I don't respect the referendum result because it was undemocratic.
  • You say 'you don't know the meaning of democracy'
  • I say people were lied to
  • You say everyone knew exactly what they voted for
  • I ask why you were shocked about projects like Galileo if you knew exactly what you voted for.
  • You say something about trashing of democracy
  • I say 'it was an advisory referendum that would have been void if it was not advisory'
  • You say 'so we ignore the will of the people'
  • I say 'it was a fraudulent referendum and would not have been legally binding of it was a binding referendum'
  • You suggest I'm making it up
  • I post a link to the legal case where this judgement was given and the Government QC suggesting that the Government knew this all along but went ahead with it anyway
  • You leave the thread or change the subject to make passive aggressive comments about the Irish.
Or, in short, trolling.

@RichardP was banned for a lot less the other day and he was sober.

Exactly, but with less of any of the benefits we currently enjoy and little upside so why do it

So there’s two ways of playing it, give in and stay which is what the EU wanted, or fight back and get a deal we need which is what Boris is attempting to do.....

I understand that Charlie, we never always get what we want, but your answer suggests that like most Remainers you will not accept a valid vote. In which case no future vote would ever hold water......
