Bruce, and all the other Remainer posters, here’s a question for you. Would you accept a deal that effectively manages our complete exit from the EU.?.....or do you just want to reverse the result ?.......in your own time......
As a Remainer who will be affected by Brexit full stop nevermind a no deal, I would with a heavy heart have taken May’s deal ahead of what a no deal will deliver economically.

Politically a no deal will accelerate constitutional change in Ireland and I welcome that but given DUP betting the house on Westminster then I am genuinely concerned for the immediate future here.

Whenever our own referendum arrives, I hope Brexit is a learning point to make sure everyone is very very clear on exactly what their vote is for and what it will deliver.

So the vote meant nothing to you then ?........
Pete you know how this plays out:
  • I say that I don't respect the referendum result because it was undemocratic.
  • You say 'you don't know the meaning of democracy'
  • I say people were lied to
  • You say everyone knew exactly what they voted for
  • I ask why you were shocked about projects like Galileo if you knew exactly what you voted for.
  • You say something about trashing of democracy
  • I say 'it was an advisory referendum that would have been void if it was not advisory'
  • You say 'so we ignore the will of the people'
  • I say 'it was a fraudulent referendum and would not have been legally binding of it was a binding referendum'
  • You suggest I'm making it up
  • I post a link to the legal case where this judgement was given and the Government QC suggesting that the Government knew this all along but went ahead with it anyway
  • You leave the thread or change the subject to make passive aggressive comments about the Irish.

I disagreed with Tony Blair being elected, but hey democracy.......my point of course is seeking to ascertain whether Remainers are true in their view of ‘respecting the vote’ or just ignoring the result and trying to impose their will anyway.....

Some of the leave voters I spoke to today deserve no respect at all I'm afraid. Immigration was causing a 'cultural genocide' apparently, and the UK should only have 'ethnic Brits'. You'll forgive me for treating such people and their views with the contempt they deserve.

I have a question about immigration. Does our being in the EU influence our immigration policy toward non-EU nationals in any way? Or are we 100% free to do what we want there whether we are in or out?

Oh and it's good to see Pete's had a good night down the pub tonight.

excellent answer AT

Any chance of you trying to answer my question about ownership of EU assets?......
I know i have just said i wouldnt be posting pete but this question has been on the go for a while , i will give it a go at answeing before my self inficted exile
They belong the brussels lock stock and barrel and the are entity seperate from country states , there for they hold the assets not the people / counties that pay for them.
Might be wrong , but if it wasnt as such the UK could say we will pay the divorce bill for instance out of are share of this pool of buildings ect.
Now thats it now couple of weeks break from me from the thread.
Hope this helps

The fact that you have to ask this question shows how out of touch you are on the issue of the border.
It also doesn't do anything for your pro leave stance.
There is, of course, the chance you know why the RoI would be motivated to avoid violence and you're just wuming
If it's the latter, it's fairly sensitive ground to be winding people up for the sake of points in an argument.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it's a genuine lack of knowledge.

maybe because nearly half the population north of the border are citizens of the RoI.
maybe because a return to violence would mean a serious hit to cross border trade.
maybe because there would be a huge negative effect on tourism Island wide.
maybe because of the threat of violence to the border counties south of the border.
maybe because of the increased cost of policing and military activity.
maybe because of the global damage that would be done to Irelands reputation.
and on and on and on

And I can accept those very valid points. But NI is part of the U.K. so how does Ireland’s and I assume you mean the ROI reputation get damaged. What increased policing or military activity have the ROI ever undertaken to deal with the issue of terrorism in NI, what threat of violence has ever been suggested south of the border, cross border trade will only be affected by a no deal which the backstop effectively now guarantees...these things work both ways which is why the DUP and the ROI don’t necessarily get on.....

I would still like to hear from the man himself though regarding his apparent support of violence, unless of course I completely misunderstood his posts......

Bruce, I can only sympathise with you for having to deal with such cretins........contempt is the correct word.....and fully deserved....

That was pretty good until the end, when I ask about EU assets and you go off on a tangent, but bravo anyway......
