Johnno's Queen speech is taking up just four more days extra than the party conferences will take all this storm over 4 days ........Even Kevin Maguire deputy editor of the Daily Mirror agreed that was the case in last nights what the paper says last night ......
Barry Gardener Labour trade minister on LBC is promoting Civil unrest to be taken over this issue of a queens speech..............
Be glad when its all over roll on a GE.......
Its been the same in 2017 and 2018 Tess May had the same break ,less a week, add in the normal 5 days to discuss the queens speech , the goverments buisness for the year, the confrences its not really anything out of the normal, admittally he is using it for his own ends , but rich coming from the speaker ect who have overturned palimentary protocal on a few occasions already .
He has played his cards and either way he wins either he gets brexit or the others in parliment stopped him giving the people what they asked for, as normal it all about him and his quest for power.
Lets see what next brings in the johnson show.

My understanding was that GDPR would roll over to UK legislation, but equally given the untrustworthy nature of the current government I'm reluctant to believe anything until it's confirmed as legislation.

The non EU UK may decide to have a form of DPR that is similar but it will not be the EU GDPR that applies in its entirety in every member state and is enforceable ultimately by the EU Data Commissioner and the ECJ. Neither of the latter will have any jurisdiction in a non EU state or at least a State that is a member of the EEA and has signed up to EU Regs.

EU Government Requests for Tenders that involve contracts handling EU citizens data, are likely to exclude tenderers that are from a State that is not subject to EU law whether as full MS or as a member of the EEA.

My experience is there are hundreds of these in place that involve UK based contractors.

Well yes, these are the kind of non-tariff barriers to trade that so often get overlooked in the simplistic narrative by which so many armchair trade experts talk of these things. We put 'democracy' on a pedestal when most people haven't the first idea how most of the things they've voting on work. Idiocracy is more apt.

I feel a deal will be done at the last day.......but the mild Barry Gardiner advocating civil unrest - Labour are doing themselves no favours there....... they are flummoxed whether what the PM has done rightly or wrong it's 4 days parliment will not sit added to all the party conferences.......
@Joey66 whilst Gardiner is wrong in his promotion of Civil unrest, would you not expect the same from hardline Brexiteers in the event of Article 50 being extended or withdrawn? Would you condem it equally?

It's been 3 years of squabbling while big issues have not been dealt with in the UK without going over old ground - I just wish it will be over ASAP one way or the other.....Peaceful marches have been had before by the remainers Mps are like big kids a majority of them overpaid , and underworked......

I think we're all sick of it mate. I currently hope, (but do not expect) to avoid any serious civil unrest by either side in the event of them not getting what they believe they want. Some MP's may deserve our disdain but it's not that long ago since Jo Cox's murder and I don't want to see anyone from either camp hurt.

The National Risk Register ranks Civil Unrest as a lower risk to the UK than Space weather and poor air quality and is classified as having a similar risk to volcanic eruptions - just for some perspective.

How old is that report register ranking so I understand the applicability of it in the current climate ?

It was published in 2017 and suggests the risks across a 5 year period.

But, as you would expect, local variation occurs and this are revised when the likelihood it impact change. I'm not aware Civil Unrest has moved in the rankings, whereas things like National Power Outage have been reclassified a number of times.
