I haven't proposed a thesis. I've suggested there are risks. You just prefer to pretend there are none.

I don't know what the EU position is, but Czech has just imposed stricter criteria for non-EU nationals that probably rules out my wife and I living there.

oh no ive consistantly said we will have a hard couple of years bruce … do keep up

but im quietly confident we will high jump all the hurdles and go on to see some very healthy growth for years to come without having to dish out and billions and save ailing economies all over Europe ...

Germany contracting as it is , should be a major major worry to any EU stalwart.

I fully understand complexity, as opposed to complicated. Would you like to share these vast number of complex and connected reason. In fact just share three or four......

Number one (and the simplest reason) we simply aren't ready to mitigate the impacts.

Source: I work in Whitehall.

Number two: there will be friction at our borders were previously there was none. This will have a huge impact across a wide variety of just in time industries (affecting jobs, health of the economy, what is stocked in our shops etc)

Number three: we wont have access to European tools and databases that are hugely important in fighting crime.

Number four: Our soft power around the World has already been devastated. British diplomats around the World no longer have the influence they once did.

Number five: Our economy is really exposed to currency fluctuation. Our pound will be worth less.

Number six: We dont have the stockpiling capabilities to ensure the same level of access to medicines.

There are so, so many things that will be worse.

Germany contracting should be a concern for all major economies. There is nary an economy in the world that is not heading for a recession, and you think a recession is a good time to undergo a change that will see 'a hard couple of years'. So a recession + self-induced pain, for what? Less Polish in the milk aisle.

Number one: we are getting there....

Source: I do work for the cabinet office.

Number two: there will be friction, but it goes both ways and is in no one’s interests to exacerbate.

Number three: the EU will not have access to U.K. databases and intelligence, so a deal will be done.

Number four: our soft power around the world will come out of the EU shell and continue to do what it is good at.

Number five: the pound may be worth less, is this good or bad for exports ?, the BoE always wanted to reduce the value of the pound anyway.

Number six: we export medicines to the EU, I’m pretty sure that common sense will prevail.

There are so many things that will just carry on as normal......

You work in the Cabinet Office and you spout the drivel that we are getting there?

You are either delusional in your CO box or you're too junior to know any better. EO? HEO? Jumped up Fast Streamer?

I think a recession is coming, but it’s nothing to do with Brexit and everything to do with Trump and China. Germany’s contracting economy is inevitable as they are major exporters of products and the slack will not be taken up as usual within the EU. The Euro will be affected and put pressure on the smaller economies within the EU. Brexit could hurt if the EU insist on playing silly buggers, but that’s their choice.....

I didn’t say I work in the cabinet office. I said I do work for the cabinet office. If you cannot understand the difference then you probably do ‘work’ in Whitehall.....

So you arent involved in policy or the machinations of Government then. So how is your opinion on our readiness for no deal informed?

We simply are not ready and have no chance of being ready by October 31. This isn't debatable. It is simple truth know by those actively involved in Whitehall.

Fingers crossed all our fellow Blues reading this dont fall for your cock and bull.

If we had started preparations 3 years ago as we should have done, then fair enough, but the Tories wouldn't have it.

I am not involved in Policy. That is for the great and the good. I have spent my life reviewing very large complex projects and programmes, in Industry and Defence. I am in my late 60’s, and I am one of a very select group of experienced non civil service individuals, identified and formally assessed by the government a few years ago to chair, review and comment on High Risk government programmes. I have said, many times on here, that solutions were available provided money and effort were thrown at them, but as I said, I am not involved in policy. Your defeatist attitude is symbolic of everything that is currently wrong with our pampered civil service......

Where does your belief for a rosey economic future come from (save for a bumpy few years as you call it)? And can you point to a few respected economic forecast houses that share this view?

High tech solutions for the Irish border? The world has been waiting a while Pete....

And the money and effort wasnt thrown at no deal by the Tories, as I said.

Now it is too late.

So you simply review projects for the IPA? Aside from the obvious Brexit related risks you must have come across, you have nothing to do with No Deal preparations.

And the civil service has had 9 years of pay restraint and the downsizing of facilities and it is pampered? You are sounding more and more right wing.

And you are sounding more like a very junior civil servant.....
