Guess you've heard all the business leaders saying how difficult it will be to trade across borders? That's why stockpiling is already happening. Jobs are already leaving the UK. Recession round the corner....

But we trade with people outside of the EU. In fact we do far more trade with the RoW than the EU, so I’m pretty sure we know how to trade across borders. In fact we even make more money trading with the RoW than with the EU, and we also have a trade surplus with the RoW......so I’m still not sure why you are panicking.......

The British government negotiated the Withdrawal.Agreement with the EU over a 2 year period. The backstop policy was a UK request.

May's cabinet including Johnson, Gove and Raab approved the deal.

And now its the EU's fault for not changing the agreement at the last second?

Pete have I missed something?

Well as a country we just decided to do the same.....how did it work out btw......
It worked out fine but it would have been a mess if I was responsible for others.
To continue your analogy,
You're leaving a perfectly fine job because you're sick of middle management and you've decided to become self employed.
You're very excited about the newfound independence and the prospects
But all your mates are telling you that you should learn how to set up a business and get some customers before leaving your job because it's not fair to face your family into an uncertain future all because you're pissed off with the amount of bureaucracy at your current job.

Yes we trade now with non-EU nations.....where we have a trade agreement which may have taken years to agree. Where we do not have an agreement we use WTO rules..... the worst trading arrangements available.
No deal means that we will trade under those conditions with the EU after leaving. Everything we import from the EU will instantly become more expensive....

Do you accept the EU is a very important market for us though Pete?

And do you think after Brexit we will get a better or worse deal with the EU than we have now?

But we are not allowed to get the customers before we leave, EU rules I’m afraid. Once we are out we can get on with building a future.......

.....and therefore uncompetitive. So we can look around elsewhere or even buy our own stuff........

It is obviously a very important market, any market is. In terms of a deal, either the EU will do a free trade agreement or we will trade under WTO. If trade continues in anyway as it has, then the U.K. government would be able to offer to pay all U.K. exporters tariffs, and make a substantial profit from the tariffs we will collect from the EU.......

They have finally seen the light.....

Fair enough that's your opinion.

But a bit surprised you believe the EU will give us a better deal outside than we currently enjoy inside (with all the concessions and rebates).

Is the government planning on leaving the WTO too then as I'm fairly sure that isn't allowed.

Just on your last sentence Pete.....assuming you agree that a majority of working age people voted to Remain in the EU (and an even bigger majority of business leaders) isnt it a bit bloody rich of a large bank of Leave voters who are either retired or unemployed/unskilled to just hand the task of building the rosey future to the very ones that didn't want it in the first place?!

The fact that the majority of those who do engage with the world support remaining is one of those inconvenient truths that Pete chooses to ignore. The fact that such people are often branded as obstructive remoaners merely adds to the bizarre state of affairs.
