I’m not relying on anything from Europe, good or bad. I want to see us just do what we have always been good at, trading with the rest of the world.....
ok, ignoring the fact that you no longer have a monopoly over half the worlds economies...
What are you going to trade with?
What products are the UK going to stake their economic survival on?
The banking sector will contract
The cost of car production will increase making it less competitive
The IT and biotech industries are already mainly outside the UK
Shipping will be hugely impacted
Agriculture maybe but it will be hard to sell in to the EU and hard to compete with already established EU global trade deals.
Oil, watch the Scots fight like hell for oil rights as part of their next indy push. (a referendum that will continue the economic uncertainty)

Tell you what tho, a holiday to England will be cheap as chips!
Maybe I can convince my wife that we need a vacation to L4 before the old lady bites the dust!

@peteblue and while we're discussing economic facts,
The speaker of the house today stated that congress would not ratify any US/UK trade deal if the GFA is jeopardized.
Makes Johnson's job trickier.

The U.K. is a prize. The USA would rather have the U.K. with it than have the U.K. with the EU. China would like to have more access to the U.K. as would South America, India, most of the Far East and indeed even Russia. There is a lot to play for in getting the U.K., the worlds 5th largest economy and military power on side. We are not the ROI with leprechauns and nice music, we are still a formidable Economic powerhouse and there will be a bidding war to get alignment with us......can you even imagine what the ‘speaker of the house’ would say if we said OK, we understand, so we will align with China and Russia instead.....

well by leaving the EU, thats what you are saying.

go on, try answering the question.
What products or services will benefit so much from Brexit that they will drive your new independent economy?

To list the UK’s sectors that will continue to perform would take an age. Perhaps you could just google or wiki it for yourself......

I've given you a list and pointed out why I don't think they'll thrive.
Just looking for the ones that will shine, the ones that will offset the weak currency/inflation/cost of living.
What, in your opinion, are the leading three sectors that will drive the post Brexit UK economy and stave off a downturn.

any chance of an answer to the trade question?

Do you have any clue as to what the U.K. produces, services, financial, manufacturing, technology, scientific, medicinal, food, etc etc. We will trade what we can trade and we will not trade what we can’t, and the U.K. will always do the same, adjusting and flexing to opportunities....oil, coal, etc etc is not what we are about anymore, that’s for everyone else.....

That’s a stupid question. The U.K. economy is not driven by three or even thirty sectors, it is a completely mixed bag, and a mixed bag that will evolve to meet the needs of the markets.....
