Constitution was the wrong word. I meant democracy.
We don't have democracy either.
An unelected upper house and a parliamentary election system where most of the elected get much less than 50% of the votes cast. A government selected on the cronyism of a prime minister voted in by about 0.07% of the electorate.
No we aren't very well represented at all.

Who is eligible to vote in a general election?

We get billions spent on something which the Prime Minister says has a million to one chance of happening.

Of course everyone knows that the PM is an inveterate liar.

I guess its the natural conclusion to this.

Enough folk believed lies to unleash this nonsense on he rest of us, and we end up with not just a professional politician "liar", but an actual real one as PM.

The difference with your Tesco analogy is that unlike Tesco and its millions of different customers, the EU only has so many countries they can sell to, and we are their largest customer by far. Tesco couldn’t give a damn if you walked away, but if 18% of Tesco’s customer base threatened to walk away their board might just be a tad concerned. Also, you sell nothing to Tesco, but if you did and you were also that 18% customer base then you do indeed have a voice in that relationship.

Boris was selectively using GATT to make a point. He may or may not fully understand it, but he will be surrounded by people who do and very often it is the ‘stupid’ question or proposal that gets these clever people to look creatively at what can be done.....
The solution to everything No Deal related at present has been to throw money at it.

Not particularly creative.

This is the same Bank of England that was all gloom and doom prior to the referendum but changed its tune after the result. Is it any wonder I'm sceptical?
You do know that Y2K would have been a problem had people not spent an awful lot of money and time planning and preparing for the problem.

I'd also point out that you could clearly identify the problem and find a fix, you didn't have to consider many moving parts and the whim and strategy of negotiation.

What I still find odd is that with all the talk of the backstop, that the mythical technical solution still has not reared its head. Literally the only reason for the backstop is to prevent a hard border, which Brexiters claim technology can solve. Why has the technology they believe exist not been tested yet? It would solve all of their problems and make May's deal a goer, so why are they holding back on it?

I think they just need to talk to the fellas working on cold fusion.

Here's the thing, I know Innovate UK reasonably well, and they have funding calls for all manner of stuff. Unless it's passed me by (which I don't believe it has), they have had nothing whatsoever for anything border/customs related. Nothing at all, which if you were serious about finding a technological solution to the border issue, strikes me as odd.

Of course, it doesn't strike Brexiters as odd as, like the surveys have said, many of them would be quite happy if Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland buggered off anyway, but still.
