Your next to last point is fine. But how many people from Sunderland or Liverpool go to work in Paris, Rome, Berlin, Madrid or Budapest. These things sound great, but have no effect upon 99.99% of our population. Once again it’s for the privileged few.......

Also, why do you believe we should be seen as a ‘big wheel’, we’ve done our bit, I’d be more than happy to have our small island trading and giving a good life to its inhabitants, we did the world policeman bit......

It is certainly not something the majority do but I do think it goes a bit beyond the privileged few and it is certainly not always about privilege. Mate from school works as translator for Bank of Spain, my own third sprog studied and worked in France, my son is currently working in Spain, my neighbour's son is currently working in Amsterdam; all just kids who went to local comps and took advantage to go out and make their mark off our shores. I was chatting yesterday to a couple moving to France for a year or two. There are already large numbers living and working in France and Spain I think.
Admittedly that is anecdotal but I think it is a clear benefit of EU and I would prefer to see efforts made to increase the numbers of people from places such as Liverpool and Sunderland doing this rather than it be just for the minority. The EU would be a great vehicle for young citizen volunteer exchange programmes which would really help social mobility. A more generalised version of the Erasmus programme maybe.
The big wheel comment is because I think Britain, in normal circumstances, can offer a great deal to the rest of the world in terms of academia, industry, commerce, technology and the arts etc. and as a very wealthy and developed economy it should do so. Not being the policeman as such, that era has passed; but playing its part as being a force for good in the world, using its standing in its nearest large organisation as a springboard first.
And because I think economically membership of the EU is beneficial overall that is our best bet for improving the lot of our own citizens and doing well on the wider international stage.

I’ll tell you something about England ..... it’s part of the UK.
It’s this constant dismissal of the rest of the uk which strengthens their claims for independence.
wish they would hurry up and get independence, next time there is a vote in any of those counties we should have a shadow one in England to see if we want to stay in a union with them, lets see how that goes

Haha .... you’ll need a passport on your next holiday to Talacre mate lol

There must be a few disgruntled voices in the back benches now, which would make him passing anything quite difficult I'd imagine.

Au contraire, he’s picked a team to deliver, it will put the spotlight on any awkward squad Tories to dare not back him and will almost certainly threaten them with a general election and removal from a cushy job. I think he’s done exactly what is needed, bold, swift and ruthless.....

A general election will not be his call. It will follow a vote of no confidence by the HOC. In either way you're indicating that a lot of tories would lose their seats.?

Of course it’s his call. Any Tory that votes no confidence in its own government will have the whip removed, thrown out of the party and replaced for the GE. It’s one thing playing silly buggers and putting all your remainer medals on show, it’s quite another to bring down your own government and get away with it...May completely lost control of her party, Boris will knock them back into line......
