His brief, self imposed, is to leave the EU, "come what may", by Oct 31st. To the fully paid up unicorn hunters, THAT is all that matters.

Like the rest of us, who have skin in the game, I really dont know, still, what that will actually entail.

@nsno-chris has posted a few more positive stuff recently, (thats relative to the chaos mind), so would be interested in his take on things.

Nothing much new, but I’d expect things to change relatively quickly once his cabinet is announced. No Deal planning was re-enacted as soon as May rendered her resignation, the concern was BoJo the Clown would get it and the dreams have come true.

I thought my teleconference was last Friday, it’s actually this week so I should have a better understanding on what the feeling is.

The french still seem adamant that they haven’t got the infrastructure to stop our imports so the “under the table” agreement is still active, unless a very large, blonde, tatty headed toff manages to annoy everyone in Europe

We can decide our own trade deals
We can decide our own foreign policy
We can determine our own laws....

So what are the 3 main benefits of being in the EU....

Last time I looked, we could do 2 out of them 3 anyrate.

Ans the first one was pretty ace. What exactly is wrong with our trade deals as they stand?

I'm not so sure myself, unless we were to suddenly discover vast oil fields that would, of course, belong to America.

They are an acceptable deal for 28 members each of which have differing priorities and therefore is always a compromise....also they take an age to do, having to be agreed and signed off by 28 countries and its regional governments.....

I think you misunderstood my post a little?I know you prefer UK not to be a member of any EU type organisation. But I thought you said you would prefer being a hypothetical member of USA than actually being in EU so was asking about that idea.

Re your three points as made:
Point 1: Being part of a large grouping like EU is more likely to result in better terms in trade deals than just being one country. Maybe I am missing a point but why would a 3rd country offer better terms to the 60 million country than to the approx 400 million group (numbers approximate!)

Points 2&3: Even as part of EU any UK govt has more than enough opportunity to create the country it wishes to in terms of economic, social and foreign policy and has exercised its independence within the union to opt out of elements it did not deem in its interests, such as membership of the Euro.

I must admit that I also think it is brilliant to have the right to live, work and study in places as diverse as Paris, Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Budapest, etc and that my children have had that right when part of EU but will soon lose it.
I am also pretty sure that the EU’s commitment to trying to help develop regions in all the member countries has been a force for good on many regions of the UK which had no reason to think Westminster would show any interest in them at all.
I also think that the UK’s best chance of being seen as a big wheel force for good in the world is best achieved as being a big wheel force for good in an organisation of 400 million plus.

Your next to last point is fine. But how many people from Sunderland or Liverpool go to work in Paris, Rome, Berlin, Madrid or Budapest. These things sound great, but have no effect upon 99.99% of our population. Once again it’s for the privileged few.......

Also, why do you believe we should be seen as a ‘big wheel’, we’ve done our bit, I’d be more than happy to have our small island trading and giving a good life to its inhabitants, we did the world policeman bit......
