I don't know mate. Certainly Wales were one of the areas of the UK to benefit from EU funding but I don't think it's as much as you would think. I read somewhere it was abut £600m per year and mainly through agricultural policy ad regional development grants. Given that Wales, as an area, had I think the second to lowest GDP of the UK, I would imagine that it would have been getting heavily subsidised by Westminster too. By how much I don't know.

It's one of those. They probably may have been better off as part of the UK being in the EU rather than out, but not necessarily being part of the EU but outside of the UK, if that makes sense. NI is the same, except it could join forces with the rest of Ireland and rely on them to pick up the deficit.

''The difference between Inner London, the UK’s richest NUTS II region with a regional GDP average of 614% of the EU average, and West Wales and the Valleys, the UK’s poorest with a regional GDP of 68% of the EU average, is particularly striking and a unique case in Europe. ''

Biggest priority for Wales is not EU in or out but getting the tories out of central government and actually getting some equal investment to England. Either with Plaid/Labour running Welsh government and Labour running Westminster or as an independent nation with a left wing government that will actually invest in the poor areas.

Inequality between is London and Wales is one of the biggest in the EU, and its not because of the EU...

Sounds lovely boyo. Where does the money for this ‘investment’ come from though........take your time.....

The usual places left wing governments go to; clamping down harder on tax avoidance, corporation tax raise not lowering it, inheritance tax on the ultra wealthy, fairer wealth distribution not tax breaks for the rich, going after foreign millionaires and billionaires holding on to empty buildings that could house people. It's not exactly radical plenty of EU countries more left wing economically than us that Wales/Scotland could be inline with rather than shackled to tory austerity.

Excellent. How many foreign billionaires are there in Wales. Just how many ultra wealthy people are there in the valleys. Raising corporation tax should just about kill off any industry in Wales. Sounds like it will be Utopia......

Wales voted out of the EU = because they have seen the waste on pathetic EU projects our money being wasted on them ......

Billionaires was in answer to raising money for investment at a UK level... in London there are plenty holding on to empty buildings... Raising corporation tax would do nothing of the sort its already one the lowest in the central europe, Germany and France have much higher corp tax than us and their GDP growth is better than ours

Wales gets the biggest funding along with Cornwall from the EU because they are the most deprived areas in the UK thanks to how unequal our economy is and how wealth and investment is geared towards London and the south. I can see many reasons for being in and out of the EU Joey but the bigger issue is the tories.

Yes and the waste it on some stupid schemes port Erias in colwyn bay - they took a grade 3 listed victoria pier down building down for this?..... , and spent it on this... it came 2nd as the worst design for a building in the UK - the gradient up to the top for a sea view is so steep disabled vehicles roll back down -inaccessible.. also the cellar of the restaurant lets sea water in..........https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/comment/Britains-ugliest-buildings-your-picks/

Whilst the accusations of a stitch up are silly, the way the EU went about filling the senior positions is far from ideal. They must surely have known that doing it the way they did would lead to accusations about anti-democratic dealings, and the fact that no eastern states are represented in any of the posts is pretty poor.

I see even Juncker is now complaining about the lack of transparency and the ignoring of the proposed candidates from the parliament. This democracy is straight out of the Putin handbook.......

So basically you are agreeing with me......even the German populace disagree with the choice of the next commission President. The whole thing stinks.....

Sure, it was not handled well (imo). I don't think that, or indeed many other things (the CAP for instance) are reason to walk away from the EU though. The benefits far outweigh their many flaws. I know one thing however, whenever an EU official or Commission representative is on television alongside arch Brexiters, the comparison is not at all favourable to the Brits. We come across as bumbling idiots.

Unlike those wearing yellow t shirts with bol***ks to Brexit who swiftly moved into EU arselicking mode.....

Is anyone that likes what the EU offers an arselicker?
