If you were talking about populism then I'd agree. Possibly even fascism to a lesser degree.

But the Nazi party were a one off mate. It's the word Nazi that people are objecting to, as in Hitler's Nationalist Socialist party. They were a unique group of individuals and it was a unique set of circumstances that brought them to power. And it was the 20s, not the 30s when this was happening. I truly believe that will never happen again.
They definitely were not a one off. See histories of Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Uganda etc etc etc.
In my opinion fascism and racism are back in the ascendancy in this country.

I don't think fascism ever went away, business could only watch in awe at how it 'persuaded' peoples to support it or at least acquiesce in its existence.
I think corporatism is fascism, it hides itself in plain sight. It uses propaganda, seeks brand loyalty with bribery and threat, influences the highest reaches of politics, even supplies its own politicians now.
Racism is a consequence of corporatism/fascism as it needs conflict and chaos to be able to play its game.
At every turn there is a shrinking minority controlling the majority, the last thing they would need is a unified and united public.

The ambition of the 3rd Reich was to achieve a United States of Europe under fascism. As I mentioned earlier a lot conflate 'nazism' and 'fascism' whereas the 2 are not the same. Unfortunately the sheep on the right who get excited by the idea of scapegoating weaker people, lately immigrants of all persuasion, mimic the bellends that followed the methods of the NSDP.
Mussolini had his definition, as did Hitler, Franco and others, all wanted a supranational state by conquest, amalgamation or assimilation. All worked hand in hand with corporations to create these, it keot the fascists in power and the corporations in profit, they don't care who is in power as long as they are profit 'enablers'.
The idea of a European army has been mooted for decades and the more recent cases put forward are primarily economic above defense.
It isn't 'as nazi as it gets' per se, until those forces are turned on the people, examples of which can be seen at many, many protests, most notably in France, though rarely shown to the general public.

Edit. By 'they' I mean extremely big players in the EU Commission. It is documented.
I'm afraid that's wrong. Hitler wanted a 'Greater Germany', surrounded by compliant fascist States. He in fact was contemptuous of the Quisling leaders of the said states and of their wish for a 'United Europe'.

I’m not as cynical as you just yet my man

If that's what you believe I urge you to read up on it mate. I'm not just talking about the Jewish holocaust. They broke almost every rule on human decency that possibly existed. They carried out medical experiments on live humans. They had an ongoing project to murder their own disabled (all disappeared to their own "Auschwitz" hospital in the Alps). Millions died in the slave labour camps. Innocent civilians shot at random. Uncountable War crimes. All on a massive scale not seen anywhere else. I could go on. They really were a different breed. Do not, ever, confuse Naziism with Fascism.

I respect your opinion on fascism in the UK. Personally I disagree and don't think it's any worse than it has been for the last 30 years, and probably less than it was in the 70s and 80s when the National Front were around. I do agree with the racism shout though. There does appear to have been a fairly sharp increase since the Brexit vote as, sadly, a lot of the scum took it as licence to come out of the woodwork.

To me your first paragraph could be describing the British Empire, long yearned for by the likes of Rees-Mogg, Katie Hopkins and the boards of most conglomerates.

We did some bad things in the name of ruling our empire. Or at the very least some corporations did them in behalf of the empire.

But on a scale with the Nazis????

Are you calling Rees-Mogg and Hopkins Nazis too?

I think Mogg, and Johnson also, play buffoonery as a screen, given a real opportunity at power I think their true selves would be revealed, so yes.
As for Hopkins, do you really have to ask? Vile, horrible and vicious.
