I think you hit the nail on the head in your own post here mate, with the word mistake.

Most of us know that EU nationals couldn't vote in the referendum. Joey's Italian next door neighbour seemingly voted, so It's fair to say he most probably became a dual citizen. But Joey mistakenly assumed that all EU nationals were able to vote. That makes him wrong but it doesn't make him a liar mate.

I've come out with a few posts in here that turned out to be wrong. I've been pulled up on it and said fair dues. But I was just mis-informed or had an incorrect understanding of the situation. I've never intended to intentionally lie, and in fairness nobody in here has accused me of it.

Being called a liar is very personal and quite hurtful, which is why Joey is upset. If he's guilty of anything it's not being able to admit when you are wrong, but then he wouldn't be the only person in here guilty of that.
I'm not sure you've read my recent responses fred. I don't think @Joey66 is an out and out liar. I do think that where he gets pulled on a statement that isn't true then he should just put his hand up and correct himself. Instead, he demands apologies from me and others, and goes on one to Bruce about his treatment on here. This is despite being happy to call women politicians cows and bitches, for example.
If he reads what's being said to him all will be well. As it is....

Tbf you would expect a higher standard of an MP, compared to a post on GOT. Generally posters on GOT aren't influencers of the greater public. Nobody quotes GOT.

What he's doing is just stupid, or purposely lying and adding fuel to the fire. That's one of my issues with a lot of those Leave politicians, a lot of them are odious cretins. Even though I think the leave vote should be respected.
Ditto where a Labour MP who once I respected called Tory hardline Brexiteers Nazis ......
Really David Lammy on the Andrew Marr show yesterday .........

I realised that as soon as I posted it and was waiting to be picked up on it. I'm strangely content it was you who did so.;)

Italian Dual Citizenship for British Nationals. Dual citizenship (also known as dual nationality) is allowed in the UK. This means you can be a British citizen and also a citizen of other countries.

I think “dual citizenship” and “dual nationality” are two different things, Joe.

For instance, both my wife and myself travel on Irish passports despite us both being born in England (if you count her hometown, Burnley, as being part of England :)), because both sets of parents parents are Irish.

So I do believe we are Irish “nationals” rather than Irish “citizens”.

Or it might be vice versa.

Happen @Bruce Wayne or @Mark O'Silver or @Emlynsqueakyvoice might be able to clear that up for us.

Two phrases for the same thing mate.

Is that right? Show me where I called you a liar yesterday Joe. Otherwise, you are lying if I never said that. Your move....
You are telling lies @Joey66.
here you go again. I have pulled you on a lie. Whinge and whine all you want mate, but your mate did not vote in the referendum as he was not qualified to. He was also not qualified to sign your son's passport if he wasn't British.
Is he an imaginary mate Joe?

As Emlyn has said, it's the same thing as far as I know. Not all nations allow it (Czech doesn't, for instance), and obviously citizenship criteria differs from state to state. With most places however, if you're wealthy and are investing a decent chunk in a country then that always seems to expedite things.
