There was an interview on Radio 5 live in the days after May announced Article 50 from those Greenlanders who negotiated their withdrawal, to say they predicted this and some more is an understatement. They also underestimated the complex nature of leaving, even for such a small member it was incredibly complex and compromised greatly their goals, which basically was just fishing rights at the time.

Brexit has done untold damage and confidence in the UK, no longer are we a serious and steady hand on the world stage, the threats from Brexiteers of tearing up ratified treaty's is so plain stupid, it really is so damaging to stamp ones feet over international law... Smaller countries such as the Daines cannot believe their luck as they even have fingers on our danglies.
ask yourself this does 52 beat 48 .........

@Joey66, Considering that you are always whining and whinging and playing the victim card, do you think it's sensible to use the phrase 'idiots like you' to another poster?
He took over from you- as for being a victim that's when more than one poster gangs up on another usually the remain fraternity on this thread - TBF @JEBUS_LIVES got a bit of it last night as @Bruce Wayne was missing to back him up......... even though as a Mod I have told him he should be impartial over these matters not his opinion on his remain stance just the conduct of posters ganging up......
anyway I still maintain Brexit will never happen.......
the can has been kicked so far down the road its squashed for recycling - TBH the same arguments are being used pre and pro Brexit on here - we are all Blues at the the end of the day.......

The EU have given the Blairites time to complete their anti democratic coup and revoke article 50. It's what the Blairites do when they don't like the result and who have never forgiven the members of the Labour party for democratically voting in Corbyn as leader. They spout 'democracy' when it suits them, as they did with the illegal war against Iraq - MPs voted for it, and when it doesn't suit them they act underhandedly to ignore it. They have never accepted that the people acted against the interests of the majority of the ruling class and against their career interests.

Blair has spent the last 3 years going around European capitals telling them that the UK will 'stay in the EU' and to let those hard line Brexiteers hang themselves, which they have done. The majority of the main stream media have got behind the 'ignore the referendum result' in the 'national interest'. The biggest joke of all is the 'it's the biggest crisis since WW2'. So much a 'crisis' that they will be packing their bags and swanning off to pastures sunny. 'National interest' only if it doesn't get in the way of their interests.

This is a crucial period in the UK history when 'democracy' has been shown up to be not worth the breathe to speak the words. It is just tha, mere words with no substance. Every time a government is elected it gives the people the right to disagree with the decision get on the streets and bring down that government. Similar to what the yellow vest protests are doing in France with their attempt to bring down Macron.

The SNP would be better spending their time on getting independence. Why should the Scottish nationalists stand in the way of England and Wales leaving the EU. Likewise, why should the Good Friday Agreement stand in the way of the English and Welsh leaving the EU. The only course of action for the English and Welsh - who voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU - is to finally and completely get out of Northern Ireland and allow unification, then the English and Welsh can have their Brexit. The break up of the UK is on the cards. The parliamentary shenanigans that is going on, should be a warning for those that want Scottish independence and Irish unification, they will pull out all the dirty tricks going.
Will Gareth Bale then qualify for the England and Wales national team mate;)

Seriously, I don't have a problem if NI and Scotland want to have a referendum on their independence. I don't think NI have had one for years, and although Scotland had one just 5 years ago, if we do ever leave the EU I think that would represent sufficient reason to justify another one.

I wonder what the divorce settlements would cost them though.

Think that question deserves it's own thread mate. Think it may get even more heated than this one.

As it regards Brexit, there needs to be a special arrangement, but this was said from the start so I don't understand why it's still causing ructions.

Personally, having NI part of the Single Market would have done it for me. It would have been great for the NI economy too as lots of business's that trade with the EU regularly would be seriously thinking about setting up there. It's only become a political issue really because May lost her majority in the 2017 election.
Yes Barnfred, I agree. It just struck me that the other Brexit poster's astonishing dismissal of the Irish problem with a 'just get rid' remark illustrates a lot of Leavers' attitude and reasoning for voting as they did. Heaven forefend they have to explain why they say what they say. He just wanted to sever the union with Scotland too! Just like that!

let NI and Scotland have their own referendum.. that's what I said. Scotland is so pro EU their vote would be landslide to leave Britain. that's their prerogative.

Not sure where NI lie on the sunbject but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they wanted to Unite Ireland / stay in EU

ive always said this.

Anything that looked like a settlement would be crippling on them.

Scotlands revenues are just over £300 per head lower than for the UK, but its spending is more than £1,500 per head higher.

Head vs Heart stuff again.

Why didn't the politicians think of this? Okay, that's what you would do if you were May. Now, if you were May now, what would you do now, given that the idea of N Ireland being part of a customs union is off the table?
I agree that the north should be given special status, but it won't happen while those serious politicians from the DUP carry sway with the ERG and the Tory government.

They had one, they decided to stay in the Union...

Giving them a second referendum is against the will of the people and undemocratic is it not?
