That's typical of what I have come to expect from you Bruce. You're all conciliatory one moment and then come out with quotes like this completely out of the blue. How dare you insinuate I'm racist. You actually are a disgrace.

I seriously would put you on ignore if I had the choice.

You just said that you want all of the four freedoms to continue except free movement, so you want to actively distinguish between Peter and Petr based upon nothing but their nationality. What would you call it? They're human beings. With free movement they have equal rights across the entirety of Europe. You want to remove that, and (leave generally) want to remove it so they can 'control' the numbers coming here, with control meaning they think they are bad and there are too many of them. A nefarious force coming here to do untold horrible things, like wipe the arse of our elderly, care for our sick, build our houses, pick our crops. Horrible, horrible things who dare to speak their language in the supermarket, coz I mean you randomly talk to any old stranger in Tesco so you've simply got to know what they're saying.

Btw, when you move to Cornwall you can have your little England bubble and surround yourself with it. It'll be lovely. The enemy then will be Londoners with their bloody second homes, coming there, ruining it all. Unless all the expats are kicked out of Spain because they can't afford healthcare any more, then they may all end up back in Cornwall using 'their NHS'. That'll be lovely for you.

And I'm not conciliatory to be honest, because I think it's a bloody disgrace what's going on. I'm angry. Throw all the titty lips you like, because what you're doing 'you' are not the victim, so please stop pretending you are.

Do you identify as being British or European Bruce?

Neither. My grandparents are a mixture of Polish, South African, Irish and British, my wife has Czech and Ukrainian ancestry. What does it mean? Nothing. People are unique.
Where we're you born??

I think its very important to identify where you come from..

I would suggest most people are proud to name the country of their birth..

I honestly can't stand the thought of Europe just being one unidentified state.

I was born in Oxford, but that doesn't mean I can pluck little bits of loveliness from the lives of Isaac Newton or David Cameron. To bask in their Oxfordness because it's 'who I am'. Balderdash. I have more in common with Parisians or Pragueians than I do with Wiganers.

Sounds like your having an identity crisis here Bruce..

Give me individualality any day of the week

We're over-populated Bruce, there's a case that that should be responsibly controlled imo, not that the government that wants to take back control will.

The final ignominy of Brexit, the Grand Wizard Brexiteers in the Tory party, only weeks after attempting to bring down their own PM are now ready sell out Brexit. Mays proposal they so vehemently rejected now looking great. He he.

Over aged more like!

Malthus says hi :bye:

I'm not even sure what 'we' refers to. The population density of London far exceeds that of any other part of the country. What is this 'we' mean? I've spoken at great length about the importance of migration to science and innovation, but look at two countries with very low levels (and who are in a developed world where birth rates have been falling for decades). Russia doesn't have immigration and it's population is in decline. Japan doesn't really have immigration either and is suffering a huge issue as a result of their ageing population. You'll be able to toss China into that mix when their attempt to 'manage' population comes back to bite them and the demographic premium they've enjoyed becomes a huge headache. Like Japan on steroids.

So what is this 'we' you refer to?

I was born in the 3rd safest Tory seat in the country, the town is 99% white. The first non English person came into our school when I was 6th form. I can honestly say I didn't know any people of colour or any first/second generation immigrants until may now mate joined 6th form.

Then I went to university in Oxford (Brookes) and felt years behind, and Oxford was hardly the most diverse place. Not until living on Cowley Road did I really meet people from around the world.

Now I have a gf who is half Portuguese/Angolan and have friends from all over the world.

My parents still live where I was born, whisper the word 'black' but say the word 'coloured'. I've been with my gf for 10 years or so and we feel nervous about my family meeting her family as what they are like around people who are not white and English. They are not racist at all but more I guess xenophobic/patronising without even knowing.

The middle class English bubble is by far the most dangerous bubble in the UK.

We=citizens

It's been calculated that London consumes (in terms of resources) something like 90pc of uk production.

I would like a sustainable, if not restorative (in an agricultural sense), future.

Anyway mate, we've been here before :)

Over populated or lacking the proper infrastructure? I’d argue there’s a difference.
Yes mate, agreed, but i'd take the stronger version. We need infrastructure for our current population, but it would be irresponsible to keep on increasing it indefinitely.

Population is largely leveling off anyway, simply because birth rates are falling across the world. You'll get extremists who will say Muslims are breeding a takeover or that we'll live forever and therefore need another planet for all the people or other weird conspiracy nonsense, but the population growth of the 20th century won't be seen in the 21st. That's a global picture of course, but protected borders has its roots in nationalism, which I just find very odd indeed, especially in this day and age.
