Hey, if they manage to negociate a deal where they get control of the borders, then fair play to them

As I've mentioned previously in this thread, Immigration is a complete non-issue to me but I can see that it means a lot to others, so if they manage to make those people happy by getting the deal they want, then fair enough

I really can't see it happening though

I think ultimately we'll end up with a similar system to Norway, which is a compromise I don't think the majority of the leave voters will be happy with

Just out of interest, if they accept free movement, will you see that as a betrayal? If so, what do you think will be the next step? Will leavers accept it or will there be bedlam?
Depends on the context.

If the EU simply won't budge on free movement, but will in turn concede that we reduce our NET contribution to the budget by at least £6bn I could accept that happily.

If the EU decides the money is more important to them (as I suspect they will), then they will need to offer something in return for our continuing contributions - and that something is an exemption from free movement.

If the status quo continues (huge net contribution AND unfettered free movement) then I think we will see civil unrest.

Lets just assume that all of the doom and apocalyptic gloom is true. Is money and capitalist interests all that matter to some? Does your country and her sovereignty mean nothing to you?

Some would rather have golden handcuffs it seems.

Exactly, I fully expect the EU to collapse soon and good riddance.
I think people in this forum do not realise we hit a hammer to the bottom of the foundation to EU

Domino affect will come in place now, Italy 5 star, Le Pen in france, VVd in Holland all want ref they will all vote leave

Greece spain with 49-51% youth unemployment due to euro will also

it will be all over soon

But you have sovereignty...economically you all benefit massively being a part of a bigger commercial entity.

Just weird from my perspective that you feel like you are somehow the Wales of Europe.

Shame the won't be a second vote, what a farce even suggesting that, should we keep voting until we win?
I've already said in this very thread that there is absolutely no chance of a second vote, well before DC words in the last couple of hours.

Yes, many of my European friends were spurring us on to leave the EU in the hope that they too may leave.

I'm not far from convinced the Netherlands and certainly not the French would vote leave even if they had a referendum and i don't there is any basis in law for a Dutch referendum .

The far right certainly want them so it's good so see La Pen , the freedom party and Golden Dawn are all right with us .

It's not over yet. Not by a long shot. Every SNP MP will veto it for starters.

Brexit loophole? MPs must still vote in order for Britain to leave the EU, say top lawyers

'MPs will have to do their duty to vote according to conscience and vote for what's best for Britain'

Parliament must still vote on a bill to allow the UK to leave the European Union, leading lawyers have said.

Geoffrey Robertson QC, who founded the Doughty Street Chambers, said the act which set up the referendum said "nothing" about its impact, meaning it was "purely advisory".

A new bill to repeal the 1972 European Communities Act that took Britain into the EU must now be passed by parliament, he said, adding that MPs might not be able to vote until November when the economic effects of Brexit will be clearer.

"Under our constitution, speaking as a constitutional lawyer, sovereignty rests in what we call the Queen in parliament," he told The Independent.

"It's the right of MPs alone to make or break laws, and the peers to block them. So there's no force whatsoever in the referendum result. It's entirely for MPs to decide.
