Calm down please. It should be clear to everyone that Britain already trades with the rest of the world. EU membership does not restrict us to only working with EU nations. Indeed, several weeks ago I was at a DTI event that was hoping to promote trade amongst the Commonwealth, and at Canada House a few weeks after that where the Canadians were trying to boost trade between Britain and Canada.

EU membership and global trade are not mutually exclusive so we can we please put that to bed? :)

You're saying that a free trade deal isn't necessary to trade?

Not too sure about this, but as part of the EU, aren't we only allowed to do a certain amount of trade with the rest of the world?

As part of the EU we have free trade agreements with approximately 52 countries already. Once we leave and those agreements no longer apply to us, we would go onto standard WTO rules until such time as we negotiate our own agreements.

Pretty sure that's not the case :)

I haven't seen those figures published so we're guessing aren't we ?

Aren't too many Tory voters in Liverpool but that was also remain wasn't it ? As I think was Manchester .

I'm not arguing that labour voters voted leave but so did Tories , the right have pursued leave for decades that's why we had the referendum in the first place .

Manc and Liv are totally dif to rest of country, even Sefton that is bootle was close to 50/50 and think of what Eu has done for Bootle.

Some majority labour towns had something like 70% in favour of leave, if that is not disconnect i don't know what is

Same with you that is why i can't understand why you want a untied states of europe

I don't understand the argument you are bringing for the economic effects of Leave. I also don't understand why you voted to Remain if you are convinced by your own argument.

You don't understand what I am talking about so let's just agree to not understand each other and be done with it.

Constitutional lawyers are suggesting that for Article 50 to be triggered by the UK, then it needs to be approved by Parliament.
This (presumably) means that if Parliament were to pass a private members bill then that would count as notification. I.E. Gove or Boris can, in fact start the process, if they got time to propose the bill.

I can't see how a goverment in france or germany can survive an election if gov does not push through a trade deal with us.

We have the leverage, Merkel the boss of europe is under far to much pressure to not work with us.

Ultimately both sides need a trade deal. We will need it far more than them though mate. America has already made this clear and expect lots of external partners to start saying the same. It will be horse trading but from a very weak base. Look at what's happening already. We could leave today if we want too but nobody is pressing the button. The EU have called our bluff and told us to do it and still nobody will. That means you either have cowardice/lack of ability at the top of the government, or alternatively they know by doing so they sell us down the river. Regretfully the answer is both.

The EU cannot wait for us to go and screw us over for their own ends while our leaders are cowering in the corner. We will give them everything they want and more and they will give us very little. I know this sounds harsh, I can't stand the EU as I know how it works, it is a horrible institution but very effective and we have got on it's wrong side.

So I've just seen David Lammy ranting and raving on Sky News and WOW! His disregard for democracy is simply breathtaking. A completely disgusting affront to the rights of his fellow countrymen and women. The right for us to vote in fair and democratic elections/referendum's was fought for by our forefathers and shouldn't simply be tossed aside because we disagree with a result. Just how far does this go? Do we start holding election after election until us plebs vote the right way?! Hell why stop there, if us dirty peasants can't be trusted to vote the right way maybe we shouldn't have the vote at all! I've despaired loads of times over election results in years gone by but would never contemplate fighting to overthrow democracy. I'll say it again: our right to vote was bitterly fought for by our forefathers and we should all think VERY hard about weather your comfortable with the idea of throwing it away.
