We have a democracy to elect people to decide on the governance of the country, not to toss it back to the population to decide on each and every thing. Referendums are a nonsense, and on that I quite agree with Lammy.

For the record, I have no problem at all for people to have as much control over their own affairs as possible, as they have the most information about their own affairs. As evidenced by this whole sham however, the vast majority have naff all idea about EU matters and so the very notion of them deciding on such things is an utter nonsense. It shouldn't have been offered in the first place, and if they can wriggle out of it then they should do.

Ref should be one time only, or once every 20 years or so, but remain camp is full of sore losers like Sturg who lost Scottish one already now she on losing side twice

Remain camp are the little EUnders, not wanting to trade with the world india, china america aus , nz etc on a big scale, nothing to do with Farage who is an idiot but will be off in few years

Listen, it's been pointed out to you several times that this is completely and utterly wrong. They may have allowed lies to pervade in the referendum campaign but we won't have it on here. Behave.

lol behave. What other issues would you want a referendum on? Should every issue of governance be opened to the public to decide upon?

Surely being a member of a union who plans to allow a eu army, already has a flag an anthem and has evolved from common market into political union and will carry on evolving is worth asking people if we agree to it?

We trade with world, however it is insulting to have someone say our country is not good enough to trade on a bigger scale and we need a union to even attempt it. Belittling.

Come on Brucie lad, i was being flippant. Referendums in essence are not the right tool to determine policy IMO but when you have Governments/Political parties like in the last 20 years so out of touch and lost for ideas what can one expect. The sheer fact is our governments over the last 20 years have messed up a lot.

Far be it for me to speak on behalf of others, but I don't think anyone has mentioned that EU membership should prevent us from doing all we can to facilitate trade with many other nations of the world. Pretty much all that's been said, to my knowledge, is that our membership of the EU sees us as party to over 50 such trade agreements that will need to be replaced.

This is a big reason for the remain camp losing the referendum.

Their argument was basically that our country is rubbish and it'd be best left to those in Brussels to dictate to our awful little country.

Including on allowing this referendum in the first place. I wonder if you gave the population a simple tests on some core facts about our membership of the EU and what it does and does not offer us, what do you reckon the average score would be?

Spot on take away economy and immigration for balance

Remain has no argument unless they can try spin something like an unelected commission and eu flag anthem no nation state, having to join political union etc as a good idea.
