Because 17,400,000 voters said so ?........

They voted for a concept. Now with Nissan, people are experiencing the reality of their decision, the realisation that they were lied too, Nissan winding down operations because of Brexit, remember this was project fear, however, here we are in early 2019 and Nissan are winding down, no more cloudy nebulous ideaology but real people going to lose skilled jobs, and all that entails...

I am still sceptical of Nissans motives here, and thats as a Remainer. IF they were moving production to France, (they are part French owned), then Brexit deffo. But they arnt. They are moving it back to Japan, who recently concluded a trade deal with the EU.

So maybe a Brexit framed reason to mask some more pragmatic/back scratching domestic decision?

Sure the good folk of Sunderland dont care either way.

Yes you are embarrassing...

I see that an American professor has stated that Mary Poppins was racist, because her face was blacked to perform with the Chimney sweeps. You should be all over this......
whataboutism at its finest.
I'm not even sure it's whataboutism.

It's just a completely irrelevant statement used to pretend that his dodgy statement is an overreaction.

Roydo the key words in your post are

"Japan who recently concluded a trade deal with the EU".

There lies the big difference...Nissan know they can reliably access the EU market from Japan. No such certainty regarding UK and this scares industry.

I am trying to be fair and balanced! What I mean is, they may have decided to move production back to Japan anyrate. Brexit or no Brexit.

Brexit may be a convenient excuse.

Great isn't it. My original surname is Polish, much like our club captain's surname is Polish. I think Schopenhauer said it best:

“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

It's quite exhausting really. I probably have more in common with you than I have with a whole range of other people with the same nationality. Have to say; evaluating a person's performance/actions by the pureness of his descent/last name is a new height. Good way of gatekeeping the imaginary community I suppose. Makes it quite difficult to exude the global Britain image though; and trading with the world - even though that's already perfectly possible etc...

Even so you're free to choose multiple identities. I live in a federal country so I have tons of potential ones. For some reason people are trying to tell you that there is a war of identities going on.

I imagine Nissan probably wanted yet another cash sweetener from the governement in terms of tax breaks/ favourable tarfiffs on trade to build the X-Trail here. The government have probably had enough of giving into Nissan and said no more.

Doesn't really matter if it's an excuse or not if the end product is the same. This process means that every international company or one that imports or exports goods has a legitimate reason to review how and where they do business. That in turn is likely to see a lot of unemployment, any jobs going will have increased competition and therefore the wages offered will no doubt be less than what they would without. All the while less goes back into government and more will be spent on welfare is either going to lead to deeper cuts to services or a bigger national debt.

It's way beyond cutting off the nose to spite the face, it's like also blowing off your feet with a shotgun and then running your arms through a table saw for causing the previous injuries.

I mentioned a man’s name. You mentioned his colour. Don’t put your own prejudices onto me....
You mentioned his name and heritage in an effort to paint him as, some how, less Irish.
Edit, I see this has been well covered.Rather than digging, you should probably just admit you were out of line.

Now, how do you know this is about Brexit. The cars are going to be made in Japan, not Europe. This suggests to me that Japan has its deal sorted with the EU and that a deal with the U.K. will be put in place. Don’t just read the headlines....

Nearly correct. They can access the EU. If there was any potential issue with accessing the U.K. then manufacturing would have stayed. This tells me that they know they will have trade deals with both the EU and the U.K......

The only thing out of line was the immediate assumption of racist intent, when nothing was further from the truth. The old racist card is always played by Remainers while losing an argument. The post where I mentioned his name has had not a single reply to the substance of the post, everything has been focussed on the fact I mentioned his name. This tells me far more about the individuals concerned than anything else.....
