I responded to your line about dismissing NI’s political future as it’s quite frankly balls as it voted to remain. You are arguing against yourself.

And who ever advocates an independent NI?

Why not. Why do you think the choice is just joining the ROI, there are smaller countries. So what is it you want, Independence, be part of ROI, be part of U.K. .....just pick one....

Really Pete?

The UDA briefly advocated an independent NI in the 80s but it didn’t go anywhere due to the political fallacy of it.

Where would the will be for an independent NI? Where are you seeing the groundswell and votes coming from?

I’m not, I’m asking you to pick one.....

Because the vote is lost. It does nothing. It cannot affect policy. It is a waste of space.......
But yet the abstentionist party is on the cusp of becoming the biggest political party in the North while also likely to form part of the Southern government.

Brexit has been an unexpected boon to this agenda and I’m not not seeing how this is all a political waste of space.

Because we are about to leave the EU and the SF votes could have changed it. But hey no problem.....

As a Republican my preference is Irish unification which I have stated several times.

But again fail to see how you are making this relevant to Brexit? Rather than derail the thread feel free to PM me.

And this is what the ROI position is all about. It is similar to Spain and Gibraltar. It’s not about people or their wishes, it’s about territorial ambition. At least be honest.....

Pete, Brexit has galvanised Republicanism and in my opinion cast doubt over the very U.K. itself.

Yes, a hard border creates major difficulties for peace strategists but it still focuses minds on the core of the issue.

If NI wishes and votes to leave the U.K., fine. That’s what democracy is about. We would not wish to be associated with anyone who doesn’t wish to be part of the U.K. We will wish you well.....

Theobald Wolfe Tone in 1798 explained that Republicanism is about unifying Protestant, Catholic and dissenter. It is all about the people and the betterment of a nation.

As part of the GFA, the ROI removed their territorial claim to the rock to reflect that it is the people of the Island that it embraces, not the soil itself.

You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried.

Now PM or back on topic please ;)
