How many would you say? I haven't got a clue of the numbers. The point is there has been no persecution of immigrants since the referendum

That's not the point though, is it. It's campaigning to pander to xenophobes and racists that is the problem. During both of Obama's elections, there was so much chatter from the Right about how he was a Muslim and a terrorist. It was sickening really...but believe me the racists over here ate it up and spat it out to whomever would listen.

Why is Boris still talking about a points system then? It would be beyond stupid of him to be discussing such a thing right now if it had no chance of ever happening.

I have no idea. I know why Farage is, because he wants a trade agreement and not free trade, but that would take a decade to happen at best, and probably longer given how toxic things are and how the EU hold all the cards in such a discussion.

I can only guess that Johnson is so used to lying by now that it's just become second nature. He's either a complete idiot with no plan beyond "Take Back Control", or he's willfully misleading people.

The more I think about it, the more I feel there must be grounds for widespread protest at what has happened here.

The Leave campaign used this referendum as a political vehicle to try and strengthen their own positions within the Tory party, and in doing so lied point blank to the electorate about multiple key policy issues regarding what a leave vote would mean.

If somebody in big business told lies on this scale they'd be lucky to escape prosecution.
Well we were sold membership on the basis we were just joining a trading block.

A decade? Hopefully the EU will be gone by then. We are the first domino.

Why are you deliberately ignoring the bit where he says that we will be introducing a points based system?

British people can do all of those things in Russia and Outer Mongolia, but they need to look in to the VISA arrangements between the countries before they do so.

He knows that EU immigration can't change if he wants access to single market. Hence why Hamman was on News Night denying all talk of immigration decreases. The points based system he is talking about in the telegraph, I can only imagine, is referring to a stricter version of our already points based system which is in place for non-EU migrants.

He also says "The only change – and it will not come in any great rush – is that the UK will extricate itself from the EU’s extraordinary and opaque system of legislation"

The guy has no idea what he's talking about, clearly.

As loads of put on here, you can't have access to the single market without free movement of trade (people), like Norways deal. It's part and parcel. Sorry.

Who are you trying to convince mate? Me, you, or Boris Johnson?

Johnson may possibly be a fool, and he may possibly not know what he is talking about, but in that article he paints a picture of a Britain that is no longer controlled by the EU, and in which an immigration points system is implemented. It is by no means some U-turn from pre-vote Brexit propaganda.

Was in a taxi yesterday, driver was going on about maybe finally Kensington might get rid of all the Somalis now we're out the EU.

Not making that up. Wish I was.

The ground works put in place on News Night denying any promise of a decrease in EU immigration makes sense reading Johnson's words.
