She cam across as a Leader, defeated but still a Leader. Corbyn came over as a rather depressing nonentity. He will lose the confidence vote and May will emerge strong again, and now with a massive mandate to have another go at the E.U. ....

I actually thought Corbyn would have been better waiting a bit more before putting down the motion of no confidence right after her losing the vote last night because, when she wins the confidence vote tonight she will hail it as some sort of massive victory, and will say she still has the backing of Parliament to continue with getting Brexit through.

I’m not really up on how parliament works etc, but because no deal is the default setting, and if we just decided to drop Brexit all together, then don’t we have to legally write it into British law?

It already has been. Parliament voted and put the laws in place last year, for a deal or no deal. There are no laws in place for a second referendum nor remaining in the E.U......

Exactly......

So if we go to a second referendum, and considering that we all now know (literally) what the pitfalls of leaving etc are, then surely the question again in another referendum should be ‘Do you want to leave the EU, yes or no’

If there are to be more options on the ballot paper, then who decides what those options are? I wouldn’t have any faith in MPs coming to an agreement as to what should be on the paper.

Should Theresa May ignore the 2017 snap election then? After all, the will of the people was expressed in the 2015 election and by your reckoning, people can't or shouldn't be allowed to change their mind after two years.

I ask you this to answer honestly: What would be more reflective of the democratic will of the people at this given point in time?
1) a referendum in 2016 where we did not know what a leave deal would look like, nor did we have the full facts regarding leave.
2) a referendum in 2019 where we have an exact idea of the leave deal we can get and are better informed as to what a no deal situation looks like.

The answer to that question is the most democratic. As someone else says, the reason leavers don't want a second vote is not that they want to uphold democracy, but rather because they are afraid that they will lose a second referendum.

We had a referendum back in 70’s to go in, without the full facts, we then had 40+ years of learning exactly what the now E.U. was up to, so now fully armed with decades of information we voted to Leave.........

Came across as a leader?, yeah, one of the worst in history, I don't know how you can say she came out of last night looking better than Corbyn, Corbyn knows the DUP will not vote against her, that's why he's not tabled the no confidence vote when lots where telling him to do so for months.

It was right he tabled it last night, biggest defeat in history, biggest Tory rebellion in history too, it required a no confidence vote regardless of if it can be won or not.

The fix term parliament act she is hiding behind shows what an amoral individual she is, 2 years negotiating the most important deal for our country in living memory, and she was told last night just what a shambolic job she's made of it, trying to blackmail her own party and the country into accepting a deal that would have put our countries bollocks firmly in the hands of the EU.

She is an utterly disgraceful PM, you will not see worse in our lifetime, she's unprecedented her lack of moral duty.

Christ almighty! If Everton lost 12-0 next week would you say Silva came across as a great leader?

Emerge strong again? She was never strong to begin with. There has never been a PM with less authority. You don’t still believe that ‘strong and stable’ nonsense do you? The whole thing has been completely embarrassing for her. It was completely predictable and yet she just kept making things worse for herself.

Have another go at the EU?? What are you expecting will change?

Are you being serious or is this some weird joke I’m not aware of?

I tell you what then. I have explained in here what I believe will probably happen. Perhaps you could now say what you think will happen.......

She got absolutely battered and no one is denying that. I’ve also stated that I want her removed, but credit where credit is due. Did you actually see her response versus the limp wristed effort from Corbyn. By the end of today, she will be back in control and Corbyn will be where he has been since the election, nowhere.........

May is only staying because of the fixed term Parliament act she would have resigned last night, still should have, actually do believe there is a character flaw with her, its more than stubborness, however, if she is able to put country before party, she really does need to reach out to all, Labour SNP, putting aside these silly red lines she herself set.

Corbyn is doing all he can do, he's up against one of the most stubborn, out of touch with morality PM's we have ever had, any other PM in history would have resigned lastnight, most would have gone when caught in contempt of the commons and found hiding the truth and lying about legal advice she had been given.

So there will be another wasted day or 2 with this lot squabbling and blaming each other in vain while a predictable outcome awaits.

Meanwhile the UK has become a laughing stock as the rest of the world watch on in bemusement.

It's an utter charade.
We had Rees Mogg drinking champagne after the vote result along with the rest of ERG. The same people who tore into Gina Miller as traitor for bringing about this vote in the first place, they literally make up as they go along!
