Digby Jones former leader of the CBI, and advisor to the Gordon Brown government on LBC ater 7 o'clock was asked by Dale how could she sort the Irish backstop out - easy he stated if they don't want it and it's in legal text as an insurance , and they hope to never use it agai st us as it does not suit the EU either.......
Just tell them if that's the case the whole 39 billion divorce settlement will only get paid when we leave the EU on good terms !
He stated they are hard nosed negotiations, and you have to stoop to their level.....
Thereasa May tonight can only have her starter on the main meal then has to go in another room to finish her meal off while they discuss Brexit ......
Deplorable organisation with disgusting manners why do we want to be members with the likes of them -
Donald Tusk will give a statment of the meeting at 11 o'clock there time - some dinner that.........

Explain that backstop bit Joe, how will it work according to Digby?

As much as I hate farage I can usually stand about 20 minutes of his show because I like to listen to the rubbish that’s spouted .

Listening tonight I’ve heard Brexiteers advocate allowing the reunification of Ireland in a bid to allow Brexit , the desire to achieve Brexit is completely all consuming . These arch patriots are prepared to break up the United Kingdom to achieve it , that seems to me to be absolute madness if you consider their overall views.

We’ve had a decent conspiracy theory and then a couple of tory mp’s defending the theory of democracy being respecting the result of a vote by refusing to respect a vote they’ve literally just finished having .
*perks up

About time they actually considered the easiest way to get what they want. All their problems solved in one stroke. Bring it on.

Serious question I get you like lord jones but is it only because he says what you agree with that you like him ?

Because if I was to post the thoughts of current DG of the CBI my guess is you’d dismiss it Carolyn Fairbairn said an EU exit following "would be a real blow for living standards, jobs and growth" , or the president of the same organisation who has warned The UK's motor industry faces extinction if the UK leaves the EU customs union or I could quote ex head mike rake “We are on the edge of a constitutional and possibly an economic crisis “ . I can add some more if you’d like ?

Well I am a brexiteer( why does that conjure up a man in floppy hat with a feather in it, maybe that say,s more about my state of mind than anything else I suppose) I would welcome a united Ireland if that's what the people want.
then again I was born RC so don't understand the unionist community.
Ireland doesn't really come to mind for most over here when making a decision really if I am being honest.
Could the majority live together , think most could.
What do the people over there think?

Mate loads of people want a United Ireland and obviously as discussed there were lots of reasons for voting Brexit . However for the people that bang on about sovereignty and taking back control and hark back to our bygone halcyon days and talk about how we surivived the war etc I can’t believe breaking up the United Kingdom was what they had in mind when they voted leave . However for Brexit everything can be sacrificed.

Totally agree on the hat .

Everyone is living together quite peacefully at the moment. It's been that way for about 20 years now, which is why any threat to the peace is not welcome. And Brexit poses a threat. Not immediately, but anyone who knows the position in NI knows that it could in the future. Even the Chief Constable of the PSNI has said this.

The only people on the island of Ireland who want Brexit are the DUP. Call their bluff and the crisis that the UK finds itself in disappears overnight. It won't happen of course because every British government before and since Irish independence has given the Unionists a veto on any progress. And that is exactly what is happening at moment, only this time it is affecting GB itself. So maybe and hopefully it is time for a rethink.

I could have sworn that Joe has spent the last two years bashing the CBI as being in the pockets of both big business and the EU, but now dear old Digby is great
