I posted a study the other week about how Brexit/Trump supporters were more inclined to believe conspiracy theories (and was accused of sneering elitism), but it's part of a wider body of work looking to understand the information people use to determine their stance on various topics, and how [un]reliable that information is. I did a talk in the Lords on this earlier in the year, but I'm not at all convinced that Westminster is ready to do anything about it as far too many inside that bubble are contributing to the misinformation malaise (and indeed profiting from it).
are you an MP bruce?

The opinion of an advocat-general is non-binding, so the ECJ can still decide otherwise (very unusual though). Would be quite an anti-climax. Although I'm not entirely sure if it will have a significant influence on the outcome of the whole Brexit-process.

what happens if they vote out again, the latest polls show it would still be out so it could quite well go that way?

Dunno mate. But I think we all have to stop, take a step back and think again. If the vote is leave again, then we'll need a strong govt who can deliver us the deal with Europe. May and her cronies have to go as they've proven throughout this debacle that they are incapable of delivering BREXIT. Personally I cannot see a situation where a second referendum would deliver a second leave vote.

I love this idea that more democracy is somehow less democracy.

It's like saying we should have one General Election and then never have another, because doing it again would go against the will of the people.

The fact is the situation has changed and the initial referendum wasn't clear enough. Leave didn't mean Leave - it meant leaving in a certain way.

So the answer, to me, is obvious - go back to the people and ask them how they want to leave, and at the same time give them the choice of changing their mind altogether.

This is why referendums tend to be non-binary, because they're obviously subject to interpretation. Having the result of that referendum as binding would have been lunacy.
i haven't a problem with a vote, but what would it say?
stay no change
stay with a few tweeks to membership
out no deal
out with Mays deal
out with a deal not yet agreed with anybody
the list is endless.
might be better to have a general election let the parties say what they want and leave it to parliament to vote on as it would be less divisive in the long run.

The thing is, I fear that all it would take is for Barnier to fart in their general direction and a lot of Brexiters would flounce off muttering about him being a disgrace to something or other.

As a nation we used to be really good at diplomacy and negotiation. I fear it is a skill that has been lost forever and now we are left with a group of mumbling, neckless chimps trying and failing to deal with the EU.

Three option vote with a 'second preference' mechanic.

* Remain in the EU.
* Leave on May's deal.
* Leave on No Deal.

So whatever option finishes last, the second preference of voters for that option get added to the vote, so you get a definitive winner. You can then have even more options if you want and still get a definitive answer.

whatever vote wins that, the loser/s can just get it over thrown anyway, by scaremoungering and insisting that there be yet another vote..
