If anything, this mess has led to the public being a bit more aware of the realities and implications of Brexit. The leave/stay campaigns were built on baseless guess work and outright lies. Now the public are in a much better position to make an informed decision.

A second vote is the way forward.

The battles not over yet Bruce - I telephoned in to james O'brien today his book is only £4.20p on amazon told him I purchased it for toilet paper - cheap at the price - too much gloating on here thinking brexit is all over ........

:D

I wish you had. He would have shot down your arguments so much you would be in tears. By the end of the conversation he would have converted you over to being chief spokesman for the remain camp. :p

Three option vote with a 'second preference' mechanic.

* Remain in the EU.
* Leave on May's deal.
* Leave on No Deal.

So whatever option finishes last, the second preference of voters for that option get added to the vote, so you get a definitive winner. You can then have even more options if you want and still get a definitive answer.
Add to that lea

they were saying people didn't know what they were voting for in a simple in/out good luck with that one;)

i haven't a problem with a vote, but what would it say?
stay no change
stay with a few tweeks to membership
out no deal
out with Mays deal
out with a deal not yet agreed with anybody
the list is endless.
might be better to have a general election let the parties say what they want and leave it to parliament to vote on as it would be less divisive in the long run.

I agree in theory, just because the idea of another load of nonsense from any side in another referendum seems like a waste of time to me. The only issue I tale with that is we have seen someone like Joey, who has been a labour man all his life, extol the virtues of insincere animals like le pen, farage, ress mogg and trump solely on the basis of brexit alone

Preferably I'd have parliament have a completely free vote on remaining and entrusted to act in the best interests of their constituents - otherwise known as doing their bloody job.

But the conspiracy theorists would run amok, so a second referendum is the only realistic option.
