Well it is certainly true that time is short and the people with the authority to call a second referendum are completely opposed to it. (At the moment! Things change fast these days...!) I also agree that in itself it would not "sort the whole thing out". It would not, for example, address the issues of the Tory divisions on Europe that kicked this off, the relative popularity of UKIP as it was in the few years prior to the referendum, the misgivings significant numbers of people have about being in the EU, immigration, austerity to name a few important points.
But it would ascertain the extent to which the public, which is now confronting a couple of very specific versions of Leave, still wants its government/parliament to pursue either of those two options or whether it prefers the process to stop for now and another way to be found to address some of the issues listed above, however intractable some of them are.
Many of the processes we have been following for over 2 years now are unknown territory so I think it might be possible to get around Article 50 deadlines somehow. Pressing on headlong into one of two outcomes both of which are looking worse than the status quo seems inflexible at best and bloody-minded recklessness at worst. It sort of reminds me of the reasons for causing the process to start in the first place......try to placate the Tory right and keep them under one umbrella although May's deal is certainly not placating the hardline Brexiteers. Not sure they can actually be placated actually.

If it showed a swing in favour of the status quo it would be democratic to respect that although it would hopefully be followed by some sort of national commission to try to address the concerns listed above. If it showed a determination to press on with either of the two Leave options currently looming that would be hard to argue against and it would be time to put on our seat belts!!
If the 2nd paper deal on trade was law and the irish backsop was not there do you think the EU leader would have signed this off in 38 minutes =NO they were laughing in our faces - the deal is pathetic for leavers and remainers.....
also it is estimated it wi
Whattabout Corbyn? Ffs Joey, you brought Eton up.
Never mention JRM either......

The problem is Joe, Trump runs the biggest economy in the world. They would not cave in as easily for the UK, they have no need.

I am fairly open on possibilities. I hope it's not a no deal, as getting to work for me would be almost impossible, I suspect my company would go out of business and I'd be out of work. However there are pro's. Lets not kid ourselves that our negotiating position is like the Americans though.
Yes I agree on that, but she has capitulated on everything....... oh and lied........
we import car parts they need us ... she forgot all that...... 40 % of trade only they sit on the WTO for our deals and add tariffs ..... the EU will win in the end as our politicians are spineless.....
yet another referendum overturned and at what cost?
they should have a trophy cabinet at the EU for the success of overturning the peoples vote........

Yeah you might have forgotten but I didn’t bring schools up , you said

“what do Eton toffs know ............... ?
how to get rich in the back of others ...............................talentless gits.................”

So I simply looked to back up your point , I’m not sure what the relevance of where went corbyn is to be honest , does he want to remain ?

Did you expect any different from her and her Tory mates Joe?

I told you from the start Corbyn should have negotiated this real on behalf of the British Public. The Tories don't work for your interest.

You don't have to be poor to believe in a fairer world, it's a bizarre reverse snobbery to think so and a common tactic used by the right wing. Socialist movements historically have always had organisations from middle class backgrounds. Noam chomsky didn't grow up in gutter either, the Fabian society etc etc

Corbyn campaigned Remain half heatedly I agree, this as @Eggs stated , and I did suggest it after Brexit on a cross party basis after the last GE both of the two parties manefesto stated Brexit leaving the single market, and the Customs union .......
It was for both parties to catch votes....

Not heard that many in fact its the first time I have heard remain and leave voters unite on the media that this is a very very bad costly deal - it would be easier to stay in the EU - 100 billion minimum is being quoted by and if the time they say we can leave........

possibly mate, the majority of people dont get involed in political discussions etc...so we could be missing their voice, all guesswork tho....

It's an obvious point, but when you have never had your electricity cut off for non-payment the imperative isn't there. However well their intentions the people you mention are salaried thinkers, and well salaried at that.Despite all his many flaws I'll take Two Jags every time,at least he walked the walk.

It's an irrelevant point, like saying a straight lawyer can't fight a case for a gay fella who has suffered discrimination. In the point Joey makes (no tag no tag) it's especially irrelevant

I think you might have got interrupted mid-answer there mate since I was just addressing your point about whether there was time for a second referendum or not. In terms of the EU's attitude to the deal I think the speed with which they signed it probably does reflect in part that certain points they felt they could not yield on were agreed in their favour. But I also think it reflects the fact that from the EU point of view there has been enough talking and political time gone into this process. UK asked to leave, they did not ask us to go.
For what it is worth I also think they would also play ball in any process that called the whole thing off!!!! EU is stronger with UK in. There are years and years ahead of further negotiations and they really would rather be spending their time on the many other pressing issues in the political world. Us leaving was not their idea or wanted by them. That is a side issue though compared with everything associated with what happens next on the UK side.
