Just like Norway, I do not wish to be part of the EU. Unlike Norway I would wish for a simple FTA and not adopt EU law. I don’t remember anyone being asked on the voting slip about a Norway model, I personally would have rejected it.....

While the Norway model gets round impending financial doom (which I like) we would be near enough in the same situation as we are now only worse off as we wouldn't have a say on what the EU puts into law that we then have to swallow (which makes me mad).

You sure you still don't want that second referendum now Pete?

So apparently, after an exhaustive study of the British people (which almost certainly didn't include asking Pete, Joe or OldBlue), it's clear that the public would like Brexit to be ala Norway - https://www.kcl.ac.uk/sspp/policy-i...of-brexit-do-the-british-people-want-2018.pdf

"People place a high value on having access to the EU markets for trade in goods and services. They like the option for the UK to be able to make its own trade deals. They also value that the UK is able to make its own laws, but not as much as access to the single market or the ability to make trade deals. They worry about freedom of movement, but mostly because of concerns about demand for public services. They strongly dislike the idea of having to get a visa to travel for their holidays.

Netting out positives and negatives, we found that Britons place the most value on a Norway-like deal. In fact, support for this kind of deal – which is based on membership of the European Economic Area (EEA) – has increased in the past year, up from 38% in 2017 to 43% in 2018. Norway is part of the EEA but is not a member of the customs union and can therefore make its own trade deals. We found people value the Norway model more than the current relationship with the EU, in part because Norway is free to make trade deals with non-EU countries. And while a “no-deal” is less popular than remaining, it is considered preferable to a customs union arrangement."

The preference was determined after asking participants to make choices about certain aspects of our relationship with the EU. These options included freedom of movement for holidays and working, access to the single market, ability to make free trade deals, contribution to the EU and sovereignty. It was a follow up from a similar study done last year, and the results placed the Norway model as 1st choice, with staying in the EU as the 2nd choice. Both beat no deal/WTO terms, which came in 3rd.

Start quoting me again, Bruce, when you finally get around to responding to the major incorrect cock-up you posted, which I pointed out...

I’m quite happy to leave with an FTA or no agreement at all tbh.....I don’t particularly like the nonsense that is being put forward....

I understand leave won , if I didn’t its been repeated enough times in this thread to have been made pretty clear . Although a remainer I’ve tried to avoid being too supportive of the calls for a second referendum even though it’s something that might sort the mess out , because well you know will of the people and all that . Although obviously as the situation continues to unravel that might change .

I’ve said it hear before but it feels appropriate again , What I don’t understand is why those that voted leave and particularly those with the loudest voices seem able to decide exactly what type of Brexit they approve of. Because the referendum was so badly written we got in/out so we’ve got out , why do they get to say “not chequers it’s no good “ , “Norway no way “ etc . I don’t understand why their opinion on what kind of Brexit we have is apparently more valid than mine .
If we’d had a referendum with choices then it’d probably have split the vote and very possibly remain might have won , it didn’t . That being the case the type of Brexit we have is clearly up in the air and I believe my desire for the ‘softest ‘ possible Brexit is just as valid as joe’s or Petes . Obviously the government should cobble something together but whilst the debate is going on I don’t understand why everything that isn’t effectively a no deal Brexit or has super tacked in front of it is shouted down .

so you're upset because bruce pointed out that Scotland voted to remain while England voted to leave? I think he's well aware it was a UK vote. In fact you called it a Great British vote, which was incorrect.

Who said I was upset? You make things up as you go.

Go away and go and try to goad somebody else.

I'll just sit back and laugh here at your faux indignation.
