Charlie is not being racist, come on man.
He's making an observation about the make up of that crowd.
Two of his observations are facts (white and old) and two are opinions (unfit, angry).
The facts (white, old) are worth pointing out as it highlights the demographic of the leave voter.
The opinions are just that, opinions. So if you have an issue with his opinions, then fair enough.
So maybe you have a problem with him pointing out the racial make up of the crowd. I would argue that one of the main stays of the leave vote was control of immigration. A large number of immigrants are people of colour. With this in mind, it's worth pointing out that the whole crowd is mono-cultural.

We'll have to agree to disagree with the intent. But for me, the later comparison of Brexit voters with the Ku Klux Klan was a bit obvious.

As @Groucho came in I don't wanna go on about it. I've made my case. Others have made theirs. Maybe we'll all be a little more careful with our words next time.

No, this is YOU having the last word. Could you be any more patronising?!

Yet you keep going on about it...

....by repeating an accusation that is clearly not true.

I went on about it because people keep replying. Now that one of our mods has stepped in it's he, @Groucho in this case, who effectively has the final word.

My own last word is the initial post itself. The just stating facts defence isn't a rock-solid defence as much depends on context & intent. We should be wary of allowing insidious negativity when it regards things that people have no control over (like skin colour).

Just my opinion. I'm saying no more on the subject other than to quote the offending post itself:

White. Old. Unfit and generally angry at the world.

old.webp

The just stating facts defence isn't a rock-solid defence

It actually is. In fact it's the definition of it.

He called an elderly, predominantly white audience (factual) unfit and generally angry (opinion) - absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with that assessment. If you disagree with the 'unfit and generally angry' opinion, then counter it - don't just scream about skin colour when the tag is completely, 100% accurate.
