What were they ?.....
The USA Canada , and Japan free trade deals with the EU - no freedom of movement.......Freedom of movement for workers for a start; something that has been of unquestionable economic benefit and which moreover was the biggest stick we had in terms of forcing a split in the EU ranks.

I agree that we have had economic benefit, and other benefit, from people entering the U.K., but we have always had the ability to let people in to do so, and indeed will continue to do so when we leave......
Yet everyone seems to acknowledge how bad it could be with no deal, or crashing over a cliff edge as it’s sometimes put.
The implications of a no deal do not particularly worry me....
we are sat on the WTO they do deals quickly not years like the EU.............
I see that no.10 have now said that there are no plans to use troops, that there will be food supplies and that the NHS will stockpile medicines as needed.
Pathetic panic mongering going on.....
Except you. You expilicty said that the concequences of no deal did not particularly worry you.
So which is it?
use troops, food supplies, stockpile medicine = panic mongering
not using troops, food supplies, stockpile medicine = not panic mongering
Sometimes you are a caricature of yourself, pete
There is a Monty Python sketch of an aeroplane carrying passengers, with the two pilots bored to tears. All of a sudden John Cleese, one of the pilots, picks up the tannoy microphone and announces ‘Ladies and gentlemen, there is absolutely no cause to panic’ and puts down the microphone. We are being fed some of this at the moment.....
What I fail to understand is the sheer unwillingness of the ideologically driven Brexiteers to be honest about the both the economic and societal consequences of leaving without any sort of trade deal being agreed with our closest trade partners?
