I’m sure they will do a deal. I was correcting your lie that this happens quickly. The WTO’s own economist has said 6 years.

Tbf, that was a very old report done at the time of Brexit and may bear no relation to actuality. Also, again, both the EU and the U.K. have to submit the same papers for both of them to be approved, it’s not just the U.K. so we know that in this one field alone we will be supporting each other.....

Of course it would. Even now those that wish to remain in the U.K. have been ‘claimed’ by the EU for ECJ oversight.....

Now who is talking "Project Fear"? Oversight of EU citizens in the UK by the ECJ would never have flown; they would have had to concede UK oversight of UK citizens in the EU.

But that’s what the EU pushed for, obviously without offering the UK reciprocate. But from this you can see how they would demand EU and ECJ oversight of EU nationals with freedom of movement in the U.K......anyway, it’s not happening.....

More than enough thank you. Customs checks are done in a myriad of ways, mostly at the point of despatch and not by some hairy officer smoking a fag at a customs point with a gate barring access. Also this JIT nonsense means what exactly. All supply chains have differing order/lead times for different components, so if new customs arrangements add a day to the supply, then the order will just be placed accordingly so that the component arrives just in time......perishable foodstuffs etc will no doubt provide a different challenge, I would think with available solutions, but I’m afraid that’s not my field......

Great. Thanks for admitting that you know zero about what we were actually talking about - food supply.

If you’d like to know about this just in time ‘nonsense’ here’s an article from last months FT.

Don’t think it’s quite as simple as you seem to think it terms of car manufacturers. In order for Honda to hold enough stock to account for unpredictability at the border - they think they’d have to construct one of the largest buildings on the planet.

But you think they can sort this out in a few months? Cool.

You also seem to think they can just order the parts a few days early - this doesn’t account for the unpredictability - which is itself an issue. Hence why they would need to increase to holding enough parts for 9 days. I guess when you are dealing with 2 million parts flowing in every day it’s possibly a little bit more complicated than you think.

Great. If you could point me to an article in which it states that the average time to strike a deal has decreased dramatically in the last 18 months that would be super.

I think the time is not helped as every other member of the WTO has a say in the deal, so it’s not as simple to say that it would be just between the U.K. and the EU.

I didn’t say it would be an agreement between the EU and the U.K., they have already done that in submitting the paperwork. I said that the U.K. and the EU would support each other. Every other WTO member has a say, as they may wish to renegotiate some quotas, how long it takes is anyone’s guess, but that does not stop the U.K. and the EU trading with each other on WTO terms. Nor does it stop the U.K. negotiating fta’s.....

I’ve tried communicating with you, but you always seem to start off with some implied insult before questioning anything I say, so what is the point......

Fair enough. Misread that - apologies.

Still doesn’t alter my (only) original point - that to sort out a proper deal is not ‘really quick’.

I see that Mandelson has raised his head again....

Suggesting that ‘Brextremists’ hate other countries and foreigners, while he is a Patriot who wants to serve the best interests of his country. He says he feels he is very patriotic. His EU pension is safe.

Mr Rees-Mogg said “Perhaps Lord Mandelson should not confuse truth with fiction. It is regrettably something he has had difficulty with throughout his career.”......

I was brought up in a council house in the poorest part of western Europe, and had boiled potatoes and red sauce for dinner last night, and am currently selling all of my stuff to pay rent as I've had to spend my last £200 contributing to a funeral.

Hardly the elite.
Same here, 5 in a two bedroom subsiding house..... but the Blairs, Hesetines, and Sir Vince all gentleman farmers are doing their best to remain........
