I thought Bruce did......

Speaking of the border Pete, what did you make of the migration figures yesterday showing that non-EU migration has gone up, despite continued calls by the government that it should be reduced to about 20% of current levels, and 30% of non-EU levels? Do you think this damages their credibility as agents of 'managing immigration'?

Yep, it was Bruce.......

it is something to do with the EU = FREE MOVEMENT..
Free movement......EU one of their 4 divine laws.......
What? Didnt you see the immigration figures breakdown for the last 12 months?
It reduced - but it has not been stopped as it?
Uncontrolled. Largest ever number LEFT, back to the beastly EU. (Them with jobs and that).

Controlled. 215000, give or take, ARRIVED.

You happy with that?
Not happy with our Skill shortage we still have 1.5 million unemployed.....
Dont avoid the question Joe. Its a central piece of your argument, the menace of uncontrolled immigration.

You lose credibility if you deflect the issue with an irrelevant riposte.
No I merely pointed out we have Skill shortage and ATM we need immigration nothing wrong with that if it is controlled, and needed as I stated many UK governments in the last 20 years have messed training on a job up promoting university far too much imo
So you are happy with current levels of controlled immigration?

This is our exchange Pete.

Amendment 18 just been thrown out by 306 to 301. This would have basically tied the government negotiators up, put them in a bag and thrown them into the Chanel. An absolute disgrace that Labour and the Tory Remainers even tried to stitch this in. Anyway it’s been defeated.....

What was amendment 18?

What was amendment 18?

“Under New Clause 18, current government policy to try to negotiate a free trade agreement would remain the same for now.
The amendment stipulates that if this is not achieved by 21 January 2019, the objective of government will become to negotiate a customs union.
This is seen as a more palatable alternative New Clause 5 - put forward by Anna Soubry, Ken Clarke and many Labour MPs - which would mandate the government to negotiate a customs union.”

Basically telling the EU that they can offer the least possible because we would then come on hands and knees to remain in a customs union.......

I think one thing we can all agree on, is that the Government have made an absolute horlicks of this.

You really are a wishy washy remainer aren’t you. Never happy, always seeking the worst of outcomes. Things can always be done and agreed between willing partners, it’s only the unwilling who cause problems. I remember in the early days that all the Remainers said we wouldn’t even be allowed to use WTO...you will never be happy because we are leaving your beloved EU.....
What good will would there possibly be if we waltz off in a no deal strop? I’m merely pointing out the realities of what that would actually affect and the 759 treaties that we’d fall out of on the 28th March, as per you’ve got absolutely bugger all to come back with barring waffle and meaningless soundbites. Wake up man.
